That was the couple’s public explanation at the time. It described a separation linked to work and distance, but it did not give a detailed account of every factor or confirm that the relationship had definitively ended.
Why did the split sound “bizarre”?
The attention-grabbing framing came amid uncertainty, not from a verified revelation of a hidden cause. On September 5, Jesse posted on TikTok: “You don’t know pain until you’re sad wondering why the person you loved would do you like that.” Reality TV World’s report said the post sparked breakup rumors. The report did not establish that Jesse was referring to Jeniffer, or that the post explained their separation.

Did they mean a breakup or time apart?
Their later public wording did not settle that question. In October 2022, Jeniffer reportedly wrote that they were “currently not toguether [sic],” while Jesse described them as “currently not together physically,” according to Starcasm. The latter phrasing could indicate physical distance rather than a definitive end, but the posts as reported did not resolve whether the relationship was over or paused.
So the careful answer is that they were publicly described as separated in September 2022, with temporary geographic distance given as part of the explanation. The wording that followed left the relationship’s status less clear.
How their 90 Day Fiancé story provides context
Jeniffer and Jesse appeared together on Season 2 of 90 Day: The Single Life, which followed Jesse’s trip to Colombia to meet Jeniffer in person after they connected online. TLC’s retrospectives, “Jesse’s Journey So Far” and “Jeniffer’s Journey So Far”, recount early tension around Jesse meeting Jeniffer’s mother and daughter soon after arriving, along with the complication of Jeniffer’s friend Cacua, whom she had also been seeing.

That televised history helps explain why viewers were invested in the couple, but it does not establish the cause of their later separation. Reality TV World reported that the season ended with them still together and that they said at the Tell-All they had been together for seven months. The same report said Jesse had described the relationship as real on their YouTube channel in March and said they had not wanted filming to interfere.
What is known about their relationship now?
The reports cited here document statements and posts from 2022. They do not confirm Jeniffer and Jesse’s relationship status in October 2026, so it would be inaccurate to present the old separation report as proof of whether they are together now.
