Walters’s reported reply—“You’re damaging an entire industry”—became the focus of Feldman’s 2024 recollection of the interview.
What happened during the 2013 interview?
Feldman appeared on ABC’s The View while promoting Coreyography. He said that people who had abused him and Haim were still working in entertainment and were among the industry’s wealthy and powerful figures. These were Feldman’s allegations, not findings established by the interview coverage.

When Walters asked whether he was calling those people “pedophiles,” Feldman said yes. He said parents considering the entertainment industry for their children should not approach it with “naivete.” Walters responded, “You’re damaging an entire industry,” according to TheWrap’s account of the exchange: TheWrap.
Why did Feldman say he was shocked?
In a 2024 interview with The Independent, Feldman revisited the moment and described Walters’s response as shocking and wrong. He said it felt “like a knife in the heart” and that he never received an apology. Those descriptions are Feldman’s account of how the exchange affected him, rather than an independently measurable assessment of his reaction. The Independent’s 2024 interview also quoted him saying, “And they do not want me saying what I’m saying right now.”

What the interview does—and does not—establish
The reported exchange establishes what Feldman said on the program, Walters’s reported response, and how Feldman later remembered the moment. It does not establish the truth of every underlying allegation, identify alleged perpetrators, or show that Walters intended to protect anyone. The available accounts also do not verify an official The View transcript.
A separate procedural report should not be confused with proof of the allegations. In December 2017, CBS reported that the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office had located a copy of its audio recording of a 1993 interview with Feldman connected to the Michael Jackson investigation. CBS said the office did not disclose further details and could not comment further because the matter involved alleged child sexual abuse: CBS News. The report about locating that recording does not, by itself, prove the later claims Feldman made on The View.
