Most often, YouTube has not finished enabling live streaming for your channel, the channel is not verified, or it has a live-stream restriction. If you are trying to schedule from the YouTube mobile app, your channel also needs at least 50 subscribers. Check YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility, then follow the checks below.
Check which requirement is blocking you
YouTube’s general guidance says a creator must be at least 16, have a verified channel, and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. The subscriber minimum applies to mobile live streaming: YouTube’s mobile instructions require at least 50 subscribers, while its general computer-streaming guidance does not list that threshold. Verify the channel and feature status
- Open YouTube Studio.
- Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Check whether the channel is phone-verified and whether live streaming is available. If verification is incomplete, follow YouTube’s verification flow. YouTube lists live streaming among the features unlocked through phone verification; see its feature eligibility instructions.
Allow time after first enabling live streaming
If this is your first time turning on live streaming, wait up to 24 hours for activation. YouTube specifically notes this possible delay for a first mobile live stream. If you enabled the feature recently, a missing control during that period does not necessarily mean the channel is restricted.
Check subscriber count if you are using the mobile app
The mobile app requires at least 50 subscribers for live streaming. This is a mobile-specific threshold in YouTube’s guidance, not a stated minimum for computer streaming. Switching to a computer may avoid the mobile subscriber threshold, but it does not bypass verification, age requirements, or an active restriction.

Look for restrictions or account notices
In YouTube Studio, review notifications and any channel strikes; also check email from YouTube for notices about live-stream access. YouTube identifies policy restrictions, copyright issues, some streams involving minors, and daily creation limits as possible reasons access can be affected. Its current help page explains restrictions on YouTube live streaming.
- YouTube’s general eligibility guidance requires no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- For a stream featuring someone aged 13–15, YouTube warns that the absence of a visibly accompanying adult can affect access or disable chat.
- Do not try to get around an active restriction by streaming from another channel; YouTube prohibits circumventing restrictions this way.
- Daily creation limits can prevent you from starting or scheduling another stream even if the channel otherwise meets eligibility requirements.
Schedule the stream once live access is available
In the YouTube mobile app
- Open the YouTube app and tap Create → Live.
- Choose Schedule for later and enter the stream details.
- Save the scheduled stream. Viewers may see it as an upcoming stream and choose Notify me. YouTube’s live-stream settings guide covers the available setup options.
On a computer
YouTube supports computer streaming through options such as webcam or an encoder, subject to the channel’s eligibility and restriction status. Open YouTube Studio’s live-stream creation flow and choose the scheduling option in stream setup. If that option is still unavailable, first confirm feature eligibility and restrictions rather than assuming the issue is the streaming software.

If the schedule control is still unavailable
- Confirm you are signed into the channel you intend to stream from; eligibility is channel-specific.
- Recheck YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and complete phone verification if prompted.
- If live streaming was just enabled, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- If using mobile, verify that the channel has at least 50 subscribers; otherwise, try the computer flow if the channel is eligible.
- Review Studio notifications, strikes, and YouTube emails for restrictions, copyright issues, or a daily limit.
- If the channel appears eligible and the control remains missing, use YouTube’s Send feedback option. The public guidance cannot identify the account-specific cause. You can also consult the YouTube Help Community discussion, but its replies are supplementary and do not override official policy.
