Brooklyn Beckham’s estrangement from his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, became public in December 2025, when his brother Cruz said Brooklyn had blocked him and their parents on Instagram. In January 2026, Brooklyn posted his own explanation: he did not want to reconcile, and he said his parents controlled the family’s public narrative and that his wife, Nicola Peltz, had been repeatedly disrespected. Those reasons are Brooklyn’s account. The reporting cited here does not independently verify the private motives behind the rift or the specific allegations he made.
What was publicly reported about the block
The first public claim came from Cruz Beckham, not from Brooklyn. On December 22, 2025, The Independent reported an Instagram Story in which Cruz said his parents and he had “woken up blocked” by his older brother. Cruz also rejected a suggestion that his parents had unfollowed their son, writing that “NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son.”
That report verifies that Cruz made the claim in public. It does not verify the state of Brooklyn’s account, and it does not explain why the block happened. Cruz’s Story has since expired, and the reporting quotes it rather than reproducing the original.
Brooklyn’s January 2026 statement
In January 2026, Brooklyn posted a multi-part statement on Instagram. The central line, as reproduced by AP, was: “I do not want to reconcile with my family.” In a separate passage reproduced by ITV, he wrote: “I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

Brooklyn said he had stayed silent for years. He then set out several grievances, which are his own claims rather than findings by any outside party:
- Press narrative: He alleged that his parents controlled the family’s press narrative.
- His wife: He said Nicola Peltz had been consistently disrespected by the family.
- Wedding disputes: He raised several claims about the couple’s wedding, described below.
The wedding allegations
Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz in 2022, and AP identifies the marriage as taking place that year. Brooklyn’s account, as reported by AP and ITV, included three specific allegations:

- Victoria Beckham allegedly withdrew from designing Nicola’s wedding dress.
- Victoria allegedly took over the couple’s first dance.
- His parents allegedly pressed him to sign away rights to his name.
These are serious claims about named people, and they remain attributed to Brooklyn. The reporting does not include a verified account from Victoria or David, a document showing the rights dispute, or any independent confirmation of how the dress and dance decisions were made. Readers should treat them as Brooklyn’s version of events.
Context: the 50th-birthday absence
Brooklyn and Nicola were not present at David Beckham’s 50th-birthday celebrations in May 2025. Coverage at the time pointed to this absence as an early visible sign of tension, and it was later cited in reporting about the rift. Other coverage described public speculation about tensions and about how family members were using social media.

How David Beckham responded
AP reported that David Beckham did not directly address the allegations during a CNBC appearance at Davos on January 20, 2026. He made a general remark that children should be allowed to make mistakes on social media. AP said the parents had not immediately responded to Brooklyn’s posts. The reporting reviewed here does not include a direct response from Victoria Beckham.

What is established and what is not
The following points are supported by the dated reporting:
- Cruz publicly said in December 2025 that Brooklyn had blocked him and their parents.
- Brooklyn publicly said in January 2026 that he did not want to reconcile.
- Brooklyn publicly made the grievances above, including the wedding claims.
- David Beckham did not directly answer the allegations in his January 2026 Davos remarks.
The following points are not established by the reporting:
Best Value
- The parents’ version of events, including whether they controlled the press narrative or were involved in the wedding decisions as described.
- Brooklyn’s private motives, or whether any single event explains the rift.
- The family’s relationship status after January 2026.
Two distinctions help when reading new coverage. The first is between public statements and reported events, which are easier to verify, and disputed explanations of private motives, which are not. The second is between the December report of a block and Brooklyn’s January explanation, which came later and is a separate source.
The most recent reporting cited here is from January 2026, so later developments may not be reflected. Check for new statements from the family, or for primary posts, before describing the current situation.
Quotations in this article are reproduced as attributed in the cited reporting. The original Instagram posts were not independently accessed.
Once the dispute is framed this way, the case is clearer. Cruz’s claim and Brooklyn’s statement are the two documented public accounts. The grievances about control, press image and the wedding are Brooklyn’s allegations. The parents have not given a detailed public rebuttal in the reporting reviewed here.
