Brianna LaPaglia says a disagreement with Zach Bryan about her dress turned her 2024 Golden Globes night from a happy occasion into an upsetting one. Recounting the evening on a November 2024 episode of the BFFs podcast, she said Bryan criticized her outfit and told her he did not want to date someone who “presents themselves that way.”
What LaPaglia says happened
LaPaglia said the evening began positively: she was sending Bryan pictures, and, in her account, he was initially happy. She said his response later shifted to criticism of her dress. The podcast transcript attributes this reported remark to Bryan: “He said he didn’t want to date someone that presents themselves that way.”
LaPaglia said she cried to her friend Grace O’Malley during the night. She also said Bryan unfollowed her and others, and told her to delete Instagram pictures. She summed up how the exchange affected her by saying, “He ruined my night.” These details are her account of a private exchange, not independently verified findings. When she told the story—and which ceremony she meant
The outfit disagreement LaPaglia described concerned the 2024 Golden Globes. She recounted it publicly on a November 2024 episode of BFFs. E! later summarized her account while reporting on the next year’s ceremony, where LaPaglia attended on January 5, 2025, with Josh Richards in a bronze Maria Lucia Hohan gown. That 2025 appearance was separate from the 2024 night at the center of her allegation. E!’s report on her 2025 Golden Globes appearance.

What is—and is not—independently established
The available coverage establishes that LaPaglia publicly described the incident and that E! repeated its central points. It does not independently confirm what was said in the private exchange, and the cited reports do not provide Bryan’s response specifically to this dress-related allegation. Accordingly, the criticism, Instagram claims, and effect on LaPaglia’s evening should be understood as her account.
E! characterized the 2024 outfit as sheer, but the cited sources do not identify its designer or model. The Maria Lucia Hohan gown belongs to LaPaglia’s separate 2025 appearance, not the dress involved in the allegation.
