In The News Digital’s account of Yang’s Las Culturistas conversation, Yang said they greeted Bomer and were not rude, but were focused on the task.
What happened, according to Bowen Yang
The News Digital reported on January 23, 2026, that Yang and Wiig discussed the moment on Las Culturistas, the podcast Yang co-hosts with Matt Rogers. They had been presenting at an Emmys ceremony alongside Seth Meyers and Maya Rudolph. The report does not identify which year’s ceremony they meant.

Yang recalled that presenter copy had gone through multiple versions because Rudolph was ill and Meyers’ attendance was uncertain. The material included a bit about Lorne Michaels receiving many Emmys. While Yang and Wiig worked on the copy in a dressing room, Bomer was in another corner and wanted to say hello.
Yang described their attention being on the work: “We’re in the middle of something.” Wiig reportedly noted that they had said hello. Yang clarified: “We said hello. We weren’t rude. But you and I were locked in.”

Why “cold shoulder” is an incomplete description
The News Digital’s headline characterizes the encounter as Yang ignoring Bomer. But the account’s details are more limited: Yang said he and Wiig greeted him, then explained that they were absorbed in preparing presenter material. That supports describing a brief, work-focused interaction; it does not establish that they deliberately snubbed him.
The report does not include Bomer’s perspective, so it cannot show how he interpreted the exchange or whether he felt slighted. The anecdote is a retrospective recollection in a secondary news report, not an independently verified account of the encounter.
