Ava Raine, the WWE name of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s eldest daughter, posted a message urging kindness shortly after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on September 10, 2025. Her quoted words did not name Kirk, but the timing led news coverage to connect the post to his death—and drew criticism as well as support.
What did The Rock’s daughter say about Charlie Kirk?
The Independent reported on September 15, 2025, that Raine responded to a post reading, “If you want people to have kind words when you pass, you should say kind words when you’re alive.” She added: “and I’ll stand behind this. be kind, now more than ever.” The Independent’s account placed the message within hours of Kirk’s fatal shooting.
Breitbart reported that Raine shared comedian Gianmarco Soresi’s post to her Instagram story and added her own words in a repost on X. Its account also noted that the quoted message did not directly name Kirk. Breitbart’s report and The Independent’s coverage therefore support describing the connection as an interpretation prompted by timing, not as an explicit reference in the words quoted.
Why did Ava Raine face backlash?
Some critics, as described by The Independent, called the message hypocritical or disrespectful because of its timing and the circumstances around Kirk’s death. Other commenters supported Raine. Those examples show a divided response among people quoted or observed by the outlet; they do not establish how many people reacted or represent public opinion as a whole. The Independent said it contacted Raine’s representative, but its report contains no response from the representative.

In June 2026, SEScoops covered Raine’s appearance on The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi. Describing the response to her post, Raine said criticism from wrestling fans was familiar, but she was surprised by angry conservative men who did not know her. SEScoops reproduced her remarks as follows: “I was quite used to getting hated on by wrestling fans and I was like, ‘All right, whatever. Fine.’ I’m used to that, blah blah, sh*tting on me because of who my dad is. They’d be calling me every type of slur, but that’s from wrestling fans. However, there were so many angry conservative men that I was like, ‘You don’t even know who I am,’” SEScoops reported.
