Looping a livestream is not established as the cause of missing members-only perks. YouTube’s official guidance explains membership levels, stream visibility, archives and live chat, but does not say whether a continuously looping or prerecorded stream changes how perks appear. First identify whether the problem is viewing access, chat access or another benefit, then check the matching settings.
First identify which perk is missing
“Members-only” can describe two different restrictions. A members-only stream limits who can watch; members-only live chat lets everyone watch a public stream, but only eligible members can post. Other membership perks—such as badges, emoji, posts, videos, Shorts or early access—depend on what the creator offers and the member’s level. YouTube Help: membership benefits
- Cannot watch: Check the stream’s visibility and the viewer’s membership level.
- Can watch but cannot chat: Check whether chat is members-only, which account is signed in, and whether the stream is open on YouTube’s watch page.
- Another perk is missing: Check that the creator offers it at the viewer’s membership level.
If the member cannot watch the stream
- Check the video’s visibility. Determine whether the current stream is public, members-only, or a public stream that transitions to a members-only segment. A public stream can be viewable to everyone even when a later segment is restricted. YouTube Help: live stream to members-only
- Check the required membership level. The creator can allow all paid members or select a particular level and above. A membership at a lower level may not qualify if access is assigned to a higher level. Confirm the viewer is signed into the account with the active qualifying membership.
- If it is a replay, check that video’s settings. A replay is an archived video, not the current live broadcast. YouTube documents that a public-to-members-only transition creates separate public and members-only portions, archived as distinct videos. Check the visibility and eligibility of the specific archived video the viewer opened. YouTube Help: learn about live streams
If the member can watch but cannot use live chat
- Ask whether the creator enabled members-only live chat on an otherwise public stream. In that setup, everyone can watch, but only eligible members can post.
- Open the stream directly on YouTube’s watch page rather than an embedded player. YouTube states: “The Live Chat feature is only available on YouTube watch pages, not on embedded players.” YouTube Help: learn about live streams
- Confirm the signed-in YouTube account is the one with the qualifying membership, and that its level meets the creator’s chat requirement.
If a badge, emoji or another membership benefit is missing
Ask the creator which benefit and membership level they intended to include. Then check the channel’s “See perks” or membership details against the viewer’s active level. Benefits are creator-configured; having a membership does not mean every benefit is included at every level. YouTube Help: membership benefits

Confirm the perk and level
In YouTube Studio, go to Earn > Memberships. Check that the intended perk is published and assigned to the correct level. YouTube allows up to six membership levels, with one to five perks per level; higher-priced levels inherit perks from lower-priced levels. YouTube reviews levels and perks before they go live. Confirm stream access settings
For a members-only livestream, YouTube’s desktop workflow is to set the stream visibility to Members only and select all paid members or an eligible level. To change from public to members-only during a stream, schedule the transition in Live Control Room. The public and members-only portions are archived as separate videos. What to report if the checks do not solve it
If the relevant visibility, level and player checks all look right, the available official guidance does not establish a loop-specific explanation. Do not assume the loop itself caused the issue. For a stream- or account-specific diagnosis, give the creator or YouTube Support:

- The channel and stream URL.
- The viewer’s membership level and the perk that is missing.
- Whether the video is currently live or archived.
- The device, YouTube app, browser or embedded-player context.
- Whether opening the stream directly on YouTube’s watch page changes the symptom.
