Christian Siriano designed the custom gown. ABC News and the style site Tom + Lorenzo both identify him as the designer (ABC News; Tom + Lorenzo).
What the gown looked like
Three details recur across the coverage, and they are the ones worth quoting accurately:
- Silhouette: an off-the-shoulder neckline. ABC News and the Associated Press both report this (ABC News; AP).
- Surface: ABC News described the shimmer as resembling liquid metal. The AP called the color liquid metallic blue.
- Overall effect: a futuristic, reflective look, which is how ABC framed it in its headline.
Beyond those points, the descriptions do not give construction details, length, or embellishment specifics, so a reader should not infer them from the photographs alone.

Fabric and collection credit
Tom + Lorenzo’s style credit names the fabric as “Liquid Water Organza” and places the gown in Christian Siriano’s Fall 2025 collection (Tom + Lorenzo). That is a credit from one outlet, so it is best cited as the source’s attribution rather than as a verified textile specification.
The name is worth separating from the appearance descriptions. “Liquid water organza” is the label the designer’s collection used; “liquid metal” and “liquid metallic blue” are how reporters described what they saw on the carpet.

The runway connection
According to the AP, Goldberg saw the gown while seated front row at a recent Christian Siriano New York Fashion Week show, before it was worn to the Oscars (AP). The AP report is the only source we reviewed that describes this sequence.
Caption teased before the ceremony
ABC News reproduced a Siriano Instagram caption posted while the gown was still being finished: “OSCAR WEEKEND is almost here and we are almost done! All shapes and sizes will be celebrated on this night!” ABC presented it as a quoted post, not as a separately verified interview with the designer.

Editorial context from the red carpet
The AP also published a comment from Brooke Bobb, fashion news director for Harper’s Bazaar, on the year’s looks: “The Oscars red carpet style really leaned into old Hollywood glamour, which is a trend that’s been building throughout the last year on the red carpet and on the runways.” The AP published that quote in its March 2, 2025 Oscars fashion coverage (AP).
Can you buy this gown?
No public retail listing for this specific gown was established in the coverage we reviewed. The sources call it custom, which generally means it was made for the wearer rather than sold as a catalog item.
