The title’s “2026” refers to the competition year, not the date she was crowned.
How the Miss America 2026 result was announced
Miss America’s September 7, 2025 announcement identified Donegan as Miss New York and the new titleholder after two nights of preliminary competition. The organization’s September 8 event report said 52 delegates represented the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
Miss America reported that Donegan was the 98th woman to hold the title and the eighth Miss New York to win. These are figures reported by the organization about its competition.
Who placed behind Donegan?
The official event report named Sadie Schiermeyer of Texas first runner-up and Paris Richardson of Florida second runner-up. It also described a rapid-fire onstage question in which Donegan discussed “authentic self-expressions” in relation to “professional standards.”

What scholarship did she receive?
Miss America’s September 8 report said Donegan’s victory prize included a $50,000 tuition scholarship. Its September 7 announcement separately said she had earned over $70,000 in scholarships through the Miss America program. The first figure is the reported victory scholarship; the second is a cumulative amount described by the organization, not an additional prize that should be added to the first.
Donegan’s performing-arts background and causes
Donegan’s public profile connects her path to the title with singing, dance, theater, and arts education. Belmont University says she took part in its musical-theater program and received coaching for her Miss America talent competition in vocal technique, acting, performance, song selection, and musical arrangement.

In a June 15, 2026 profile, Miss America said Donegan’s interest in heart-health advocacy was shaped in part by cardiovascular illness in her family, including her mother’s strokes and heart attack. The profile described her as an ambassador for the national alliance between the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement and the Miss America Scholarship Foundation. Miss America also linked her advocacy to arts education and quoted her saying, “The arts gave me a place where I felt empowered. I learned perseverance, communication and confidence.”
The USO identifies Donegan as Miss America 2026 and an honorary USO Global Ambassador. Its profile says she studied musical theater at Belmont University for a time, earned an associate’s degree in biblical studies, is pursuing leadership studies, and works as chief operations officer of Southern Sitter LLC. It also describes her as a professional performer and Actors’ Equity Association member.

What the official result does—and does not—establish
The official announcement establishes Donegan as the winner and the date she was crowned. It does not explain whether a previous titleholder resigned or whether Donegan assumed the title through a succession process, so the result alone does not establish that mechanism.
