The couple were Western Australian musicians Amanda “Bloom” Canzurlo and James Morley, who were engaged when they auditioned for The Voice Generations in 2022. Unlike the family pairings implied by the show’s intergenerational premise, they were romantic partners—and their musical tastes differed, too.

Who were Amanda “Bloom” Canzurlo and James Morley?

PerthNow profiled Canzurlo and Morley on 31 January 2022, ahead of the program’s blind auditions. The feature described them as engaged musicians from Western Australia and the state’s only pairing for that season. Their relationship began through music, and they were preparing to perform together on the show.

At the time of that 2022 profile, Canzurlo was 35 and Morley was 53. Those are ages reported at the time, not their current ages.

What made the couple an unusual fit for the format?

The Voice Generations brought singers together across generations. Canzurlo and Morley fit that premise through their age difference, which the feature described as almost 20 years, but they were partners rather than relatives. Canzurlo reflected on the pairing in the interview: “I think coming together as fiances with almost 20 years apart, keyword almost, I think that in that sense it was perfect for us to come together and show Australia what we do.”

Their musical reference points also differed. Morley said he had been raised on 1970s rock and roll, while Canzurlo described herself as more pop-oriented. She said she did not want to be confined to one genre, explaining that a song’s connection and music mattered more than a single label.

What did they hope to bring to the audition?

Morley said the program could offer a way to introduce Canzurlo’s songwriting: “It’s also a good vehicle for Bloom’s original material.” The comment points to a goal beyond performing as a duo: using the exposure to bring her original songs to an audience.

The pair had also been affected by pandemic-era performance restrictions. They began playing driveway sessions, and Canzurlo recalled audience members telling them the sessions had helped them. The feature offers that as context for their performing life, not as a claim about the later audition result.

What is known about their result on The Voice Generations?

The PerthNow story is a preview of the couple’s blind auditions, published before they competed. It does not say whether they passed the auditions, how far they advanced, or what happened to them afterward. It therefore establishes their place in the 2022 WA lineup, but not their eventual competition outcome or current musical activities.
