The actress mistaken for Madonna at Rio de Janeiro’s Forte de Copacabana was Monique Alfradique. She was filming her program Beach Life at the site on April 30, 2024, when social-media posts claimed the pop star had appeared there.
How the mistaken identity happened
On April 30, posts circulated claiming Madonna had been spotted at the Forte de Copacabana. Alfradique was at the fort recording Beach Life; she later said she saw the posts and wondered how Madonna could have been there without her noticing, since she was filming at the site. UOL Splash reported her account, and gshow covered the mix-up.

Why she called herself the “Madonna de Niterói”
Alfradique joked that she was the “Madonna de Niterói,” referring to the city where she was born, according to gshow. She said she was delighted to be mistaken for the singer, described herself as a longtime Madonna fan, and invited Madonna to film with her at the Forte. In an Instagram Stories statement reported by UOL, she said: “Amei ser confundida com ela. Sou fã dela desde sempre. Estarei no show sábado.” That means, “I loved being mistaken for her. I’ve always been her fan. I’ll be at the show Saturday.”
Madonna’s Copacabana concert came four days later
The social-media claim concerned an appearance at the Forte on April 30, not Madonna’s concert. On May 4, 2024, Madonna performed a free show on Copacabana Beach, closing The Celebration Tour. The Associated Press reported an estimated attendance of 1.6 million, citing G1 and Rio City Hall’s tourism agency; that figure refers to the concert crowd, not to the number of people who saw or shared the mistaken-identity posts. The Associated Press’s concert report covers the event.
