The reported new Iron Fist is Jona Xiao, who voices an Iron Fist bearer in the animated MCU series Eyes of Wakanda. That is not evidence that Marvel has recast Danny Rand in live action: the available reporting concerns an animated character from the past, while any return by Finn Jones as Rand remains unconfirmed.
Who is the MCU’s new Iron Fist?
Secondary reporting says actor Jona Xiao voices the MCU’s first female Iron Fist in Eyes of Wakanda, an animated Marvel series reported to have premiered on Disney+ on August 1, 2025. The report attributes the casting information to Xiao, but a direct post and an official Marvel confirmation were not independently accessible. Marvel’s series page was also inaccessible during verification, so the casting should be described as reported rather than as a directly confirmed Marvel announcement.
Is this a live-action recasting of Danny Rand?
No. The available account is about an animated Iron Fist bearer in Eyes of Wakanda, not a new actor taking over Danny Rand’s live-action role. It does not establish a live-action recasting, a new Danny Rand project, or a confirmed return for Finn Jones.
What is known about the character?
A secondary report published March 11, 2026, names the character Jorani and places her story in 1400 AD. Those details have not been established here through an accessible official Marvel source, so they are best treated as reported character information rather than definitive canon. The available reporting does not provide a verified direct quotation from Xiao or Marvel.

Why the Daniel Wu casting claim is unreliable
A TechYorker article dated January 8, 2026, claims Daniel Wu was announced as a new Iron Fist and describes an official teaser. Its text also includes major inconsistencies, including a reference to a fictional “John Doe” and a claim that a series discussed in 2026 was due in 2024. Those contradictions make the article an unreliable basis for saying Wu was cast. The reported Xiao role in Eyes of Wakanda is a separate claim and should not be turned into a live-action casting announcement.
