Lauren Hashian is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s wife, but she has a music career of her own: she is a singer-songwriter and music producer who grew up around music and later worked behind the scenes in the industry. She studied communications at Emerson College, wrote and recorded her own songs, and has spoken about overcoming a long-standing fear of singing in public.
Who is Lauren Hashian?
Hashian is an American singer-songwriter and music producer. Her public profile is often tied to Johnson, but her work includes songwriting, recording and music-industry roles that predate her best-known releases. The Boston Globe’s 2022 profile describes her shift from behind-the-scenes work toward concentrating on her own studio music and songwriting (The Boston Globe, February 2022).
How did music shape her upbringing?
Hashian grew up in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, in a family with a close connection to music. Her father, Sib Hashian, was the drummer for the rock band Boston. In an interview with the Globe, she described his daily practice as an influence and recalled making music with fellow students. That background helps explain her early exposure to music, but her career also reflects her own studies, work and songwriting.
What did she study and do before releasing her own music?
Hashian studied communications at Emerson College. Before focusing on her own songs, she worked in music-related roles behind the scenes. The Globe reports that she pitched Warner Music Group artists’ songs for film and television placement and later worked in Paramount Pictures’ music department. She subsequently turned more of her attention to writing and recording her own material.

What music has Lauren Hashian released?
Billboard reported in December 2021 that Love…and Other Things (Side A), a three-song release, was the first half of Hashian’s debut EP. In that interview, Hashian described the personal difficulty of performing publicly: “For years, I was really afraid of singing publicly.” She also reflected on becoming more confident as an artist over time (Billboard, December 2021).
The Boston Globe’s 2022 profile discussed plans for the remaining songs at that time. Those comments are a snapshot of her plans then, not confirmation of a current release schedule. The cited profiles establish her work as a recording artist, but do not establish a current catalog or the availability of a physical edition.
