Taylor Rooks is married to Shane Fowler. GQ reported that the couple married on July 19, 2025, at Gotham Hall in New York City. Fowler’s name, the wedding, how the two met, and the proposal account all come from Rooks’s own interview with GQ, published July 24, 2025. Beyond those details, the couple has kept much of their life private.
Who Shane Fowler is
Shane Fowler is the husband of NBA reporter Taylor Rooks. The GQ feature is the primary source for the marriage and the relationship details below. The Sporting News also reports the marriage and notes an earlier remark Rooks made in March 2024 that she was “spoken for.” That remark came before the wedding, and the Sporting News piece does not add a fuller biography of Fowler.
The reporting confirms one educational detail: Rooks said the couple met while Fowler was in his final year at Harvard Law School. No published account in the reporting establishes his current occupation or any wider professional history, so readers should not infer a career from that detail.
How they met and how he proposed
Rooks told GQ that Fowler proposed through a scavenger hunt across New York City. The hunt ended with dinner at Fini, which Rooks described as their favorite pizza spot. This is a personal account from Rooks, not an independently verified event.

The wedding
According to GQ, the couple held the ceremony and reception at a single venue, Gotham Hall. Rooks said she wanted to avoid moving guests between locations because a change of place would disrupt the atmosphere. The feature also reports these details:
- Ceremony music: Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky”
- First dance: Lauryn Hill’s “Nothing Even Matters”
- Afterparty: held at Zero Bond
- Honeymoon: Greece

Why the couple keeps things private
Rooks framed the couple’s privacy as a matter of having a life that is theirs. In her words to GQ: “I’m an incredibly private person because it’s important to have a life that belongs to you. Our relationship belongs to us. Our love belongs to us, so it’s only right that the moment belonged to us.” She also said of Fowler after the wedding: “He is so perfect it’s hard to believe he’s real.”
