Who is Sophie Brussaux?
Brussaux is a visual artist from Bordeaux, France, according to Complex’s February 2021 profile. She is also publicly identified as the mother of Adonis, Drake’s son. Those facts explain much of the public interest in her, but they are distinct parts of her life: her family connection does not define her artistic work.

What does Sophie Brussaux do?
Painting and artistic practice
Complex described Brussaux’s paintings as vibrant and character-driven. In an interview with Alex Nino Gheciu published on 19 February 2021, Brussaux said her work brings together biblical and science-fiction imagery with pop iconography. She also reflected on motherhood’s influence: “Becoming a mother was the transcendental experience that showed me the way.” She added, “I used to paint for fun, and I still do, but now I paint with a purpose.” Read the Complex interview.
Arts Help and her 2019 exhibition
Complex reported in 2021 that Brussaux had co-founded Arts Help, a Toronto-based nonprofit, and served as its Chief Visionary Officer at that time. The publication also reported that her 2019 solo exhibition, Icons With a Purpose, presented portraits of public figures in relation to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Complex said Arts Help launched its Black Artistry Series in 2021 to feature underrepresented Black creatives and work curated by Black artists. These details describe the organization and Brussaux’s role as reported in 2021; they do not establish her current title or the nonprofit’s present activities.
How is Sophie Brussaux connected to Drake?
Brussaux is the mother of Adonis, Drake’s son. A Capital XTRA profile published on 27 August 2026 reports that Adonis was born on 11 October 2017. Drake spoke publicly about fatherhood in 2018; coverage at the time connected that acknowledgment with his album Scorpion and an interview on HBO’s The Shop.

In October 2018, Capital XTRA reported Drake’s description of himself as “a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, you know, we’ve had our moments.” That was a statement made in a 2018 interview, not evidence of the pair’s current relationship status. What has Brussaux said about motherhood?
In the 2021 Complex interview, Brussaux described creative activities she shares with her family: “We draw, create, we dance, and paint.” She also said of Adonis, “Whatever he chooses to do later in life he will have my full and loving support.” These are her comments in that interview; they do not establish details about the family’s private arrangements.

What is publicly known—and what remains private?
Public reporting documents Adonis’s birth in 2017 and Drake discussing fatherhood in 2018. The cited interviews and profiles do not establish the full private history of Brussaux and Drake’s relationship, their current custody arrangements, or the details of their present co-parenting. It is more accurate to keep those private matters separate from the public record about Brussaux’s art and nonprofit work.
