Daniel Bernad is the man Sia married in 2022 and the father of her son, Somersault Wonder Bernad. Sia filed for divorce in March 2025. Public reports describe a contested divorce and custody case, but do not establish the couple’s private reasons for separating or the final outcome of every issue.
Who is Daniel Bernad?
Daniel Bernad is Sia Furler’s estranged husband. The Associated Press reported that he was her second husband; Sia was previously married to filmmaker Erik Anders Lang. Public reporting does not establish when Sia and Bernad began dating or how they met. The AP said the start of their relationship was unclear.

When did Sia and Daniel Bernad marry, and when did they separate?
- December 28, 2022: The Los Angeles Times, citing Los Angeles County Superior Court documents, reported that Sia and Bernad legally married. Los Angeles Times
- May 2023: The Associated Press reported that the couple held a small wedding ceremony in Portofino, Italy, after their legal marriage. Associated Press

- March 2025: Sia filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, and listed March 18 as the separation date, according to the AP. Associated Press
What is known about the divorce and custody case?
The filings and reporting describe requests and competing claims, not a complete or final ruling. In her March 2025 petition, Sia sought legal and physical custody of their son and asked the court not to award Bernad spousal support. Those were requests made in the petition, not findings by a court.
In October 2025, The Guardian reported that Bernad requested more than US$250,000 per month in spousal support, US$300,000 in legal fees, and US$200,000 for forensic accounting, citing court documents. These were reported requests, not amounts the article establishes as awarded or paid. The same report described Bernad as a former radiation oncologist and said court papers discussed a ketamine-treatment clinic business, Modern Medicine; those descriptions are attributed to that reporting and the documents, not independent findings. The public reporting cited here does not establish the final disposition of the divorce or custody dispute. A request in a filing, an allegation, an interim arrangement, and a final court order are different things; the reported filings alone do not show how the case ultimately ended.
