Scott Kelly is an Army Special Operations veteran who works in telecommunications and lives near Buffalo, New York. His résumé went viral in November 2025 after a concertgoer filmed a man reading it during a Jonas Brothers show in Buffalo. Kelly was not at the concert and was not job hunting when the résumé was passed around. He is not the retired NASA astronaut who shares his name.
Who Scott Kelly is
Atlanta News First, reporting on November 20, 2025, described Kelly as an Army Special Operations veteran who lived near Buffalo and took online classes. The station said he hosts a podcast called At the Water’s Edge, which examines national power and how it is used during an era of great-power competition. Those details describe his situation in late 2025. They have not been independently checked for the present day, so his current employer, schooling and podcast schedule may have changed.
- Military background: Army Special Operations veteran. Brandon Bieron, who later reviewed his résumé, served with him in the same Army infantry battalion.
- Work: Employed by a telecommunications company at the time of the viral coverage, according to Kelly’s own statements to The Washington Post and TheWrap.
- Media: Host of At the Water’s Edge, a national security podcast.
What happened at the Buffalo concert
Concertgoer Jen Wilson noticed a man at the Buffalo show scrolling through a PDF titled “Scott Kelly Resume Sept 2025.” She recorded a short clip and posted it to TikTok with a good-luck message. The video drew tens of millions of views, along with comments from the Jonas Brothers, companies, and people who said they knew Kelly or were him. The Washington Post, reporting on November 13, 2025, put the view count at more than 45 million at the time of publication. That figure is a snapshot from that date, not a current total.
The timeline below separates the event from the later coverage.

Who was reading the résumé, and why
The man reviewing the document was Brandon Bieron, president of Reimer Home Services in New York. A colleague found Kelly’s résumé and emailed it to Bieron as a possible candidate. Bieron said he looked at it for about a minute. The two men had served together in the same Army infantry battalion, so the viral moment brought them back in touch.
Why Kelly was not job hunting
Kelly told The Washington Post that he had not applied for a job recently and was gainfully employed. He was not at the concert, so the résumé was not something he had handed over in person. The document reached Bieron through a colleague’s recommendation, not through a application Kelly had submitted to Reimer Home Services.

Did Scott Kelly get the job?
The coverage does not establish that Kelly received a job offer. On The Tonight Show, which appeared alongside the Jonas Brothers, Kelly said he had not applied for the position. He and Bieron planned to talk about how veterans can help one another move into civilian work. Kelly also said he was interested in using the attention to grow his podcast, and the reporting describes that as the practical result of the exposure. Readers should treat any claim that he was hired as unconfirmed.
In their own words
The Washington Post quoted Kelly as saying: “I would’ve bet every dollar I own … that this would never happen.” The ellipsis is part of the quote as published and should be kept if you reproduce it. The same outlet quoted Bieron: “Talent waits for nobody.” Both are remarks made to reporters in 2025 and are not updates on either man’s situation.

What the reporting does and does not establish
- Established in the 2025 coverage: Kelly’s résumé was reviewed at the Buffalo concert by Bieron; a colleague had sent it to Bieron as a possible candidate; Kelly and Bieron served in the same Army infantry battalion; Kelly appeared on The Tonight Show with the Jonas Brothers.
- Not established: That Kelly was at the concert, applied for a job, or was hired. That the brand and celebrity comments were genuine endorsements rather than jokes and social-media reactions.
- Time-bound: The view count, Kelly’s employment, and his podcast activity all describe late 2025. The Washington Post’s figure should be read as its November 13, 2025 snapshot.
When you see Scott Kelly’s name in a search result, check whether it refers to this Army veteran or to the astronaut. The two are separate people.
