Yes. Ophelia Frump is Morticia’s younger sister and Wednesday’s aunt; Hester Frump is their mother. Calling Ophelia an “Addams ancestor” is misleading: she belongs to Wednesday’s family as a living aunt, not a forebear.

What happened to Ophelia?
Her Raven abilities and black tears
Morticia describes Ophelia as a psychic Raven whose abilities became dangerous after she pushed them too far. At Nevermore, Ophelia was found screaming with black tears. Morticia recognizes the same symptom in Wednesday, tying the sisters’ psychic histories together without establishing that their experiences are identical.
Her reported disappearance
In the Season 2 story, Fester tells Wednesday that Ophelia had already left Willow Hill when he went there at Morticia’s request. At that point in the show’s timeline, Ophelia had been missing for 15 years. That is the characters’ account of her disappearance, not a real-world date.

Is Aunt Ophelia alive? Season 2 finale spoilers
Yes. After Morticia gives Wednesday Ophelia’s journal, Wednesday sees Ophelia in a vision. The finale then shows Ophelia alive in a room in Hester’s mansion, confined and writing, “Wednesday must die.”
Netflix’s official finale explainer says it is unclear how long Ophelia has been there, who confined her, or why. The message is a chilling clue, but the finale does not explain her motives or establish what she intends to do. Co-creator Al Gough described the reveal as “hopefully a nice breadcrumb” toward Season 3; co-creator and co-showrunner Miles Millar said Ophelia’s long absence has left “a lot of unanswered questions.”

Who plays Ophelia in Wednesday Season 3?
Netflix announced Eva Green as Ophelia for Season 3 on November 25, 2025. The casting announcement does not say whether Ophelia will be a friend or foe, or answer how she came to be confined in Hester’s house. Those questions remain unresolved rather than confirmed plot details.
