Matt Damon’s wife is Luciana Barroso. Some recent coverage also refers to her as Luciana Damon. The couple met in Miami in 2003, married in a private ceremony at New York City Hall in December 2005, and together have three daughters. Barroso also has a daughter, Alexia, from a relationship before she met Damon.
Who Luciana Barroso is
Harper’s Bazaar reports that Barroso was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and later relocated to Miami. Her background in film production is the other side of her public profile, which is covered below.
How they met
The couple met in 2003 at a Miami bar where Barroso worked. Damon had stopped in with the crew of Stuck on You, which was shooting in Miami at the time. Biography.com places their meeting in the same period as the film’s Miami shoot, and Harper’s Bazaar gives the same account.
Damon has described the moment in a 2011 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as cited by Harper’s Bazaar: “I literally saw her across a crowded room, literally. Eight years and four kids later, that’s my life. I don’t know how else our paths would’ve crossed if that didn’t happen.” Barroso has said his “across the room” version amused her, because the venue was a nightclub full of lights.

Their marriage
Harper’s Bazaar reports that the couple married in December 2005 in a private ceremony at New York City Hall. Biography.com gives the same month, year and venue. Neither source describes the guest list or other details of the ceremony, so none are included here.
Their family
Damon and Barroso have three daughters together. Barroso’s eldest daughter, Alexia, is from her earlier relationship and is not a child of Damon’s. The blended household therefore includes four daughters, but only three of them were born to the couple. TV Insider corroborates the family details reported by Harper’s Bazaar and Biography.com.

Barroso’s film work
Barroso works in film production. Harper’s Bazaar reports that she was an executive producer on The Instigators and a producer on The Rip. Damon discussed her role in a July 31, 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Rachel Smith at the The Instigators premiere. He said: “She’s been reading every script and watching every cut of every movie for 21 years. This is the first time we ever kind of codified it.”

What Damon has said about the relationship
In a 2026 People interview, as reported by Harper’s Bazaar, Damon described the relationship this way: “There’s a lot of love and respect underneath the relationship, and a lot of trust.” He added: “It’s built on a very sturdy foundation. We continue to grow and evolve as people, and so that foundation’s really everything.” The same profile quotes him calling it “the greatest thing in my life.” These statements are reported through Harper’s Bazaar; the People article itself was not reviewed directly for this piece.
The clearest public picture of Barroso is therefore a long partnership that began with a Miami meeting in 2003, a 2005 marriage, a shared family of three daughters, and a production career that Damon has credited with real creative input.
