Matheus Gabriel is a Brazilian sertanejo singer and songwriter from São José do Rio Preto, in the interior of São Paulo state. He became publicly linked to Maiara, one half of the duo Maiara & Maraisa, in June 2023, after fans read social-media posts as signs of a romance. The couple later confirmed the relationship, announced a split in October 2023, and were reported to have got back together in 2024 and again in 2025. The most recent coverage reviewed for this article dates from April 2025, so it cannot tell you whether they are still together as of October 2026.
Who Matheus Gabriel is
Matheus Gabriel works in sertanejo, the Brazilian country-pop genre that dominates radio and streaming playlists across the country. CNN Brasil’s March 2025 profile identifies São José do Rio Preto as his hometown and says he had three years of career at the time of publication, a figure tied to that date rather than to today. UOL’s June 2023 profile lists “Beijo Vagabundo” and “Fiel Separado” among the songs he performs, and credits him as the composer of “Dá Intimidade Pra Ver,” which was recorded by the duo Israel & Rodolffo. CNN Brasil also reports that his first DVD, “Respira,” blends sertanejo with other musical styles.
Gshow’s February 2024 report adds a detail outside music: Matheus Gabriel served in the 27th Parachute Infantry Battalion before focusing on his singing career. These biographical points come from press profiles. They have not been checked against official records, so treat them as reported details rather than verified biography.
How the rumor started
The link between the two singers began online in June 2023. According to UOL Splash, Maiara posted a romantic-looking story on Dia dos Namorados (Brazil’s Valentine’s Day, June 12) without showing who she was with. Fans then recognized the same location in a story posted by Matheus Gabriel. UOL also reported that the pair had earlier been seen together at the recording of a DVD by the duo Edson & Hudson, and that they were seen embracing backstage.

These clues are why the story spread, but they are not confirmation on their own. Shared locations and backstage sightings are consistent with a relationship, and also with ordinary work or friendship. The relationship was treated as real only once the two publicly spoke about it.

What the couple said publicly
The October 2023 breakup
CNN Brasil quoted Maiara’s announcement, identifying her as the singer in the duo Maiara & Maraisa: “Eu e o Matheus não somos mais um casal… Mas seguiremos com a nossa amizade e respeito acima de tudo… Tenho muita gratidão!” In English: “Matheus and I are no longer a couple… But we will keep our friendship and respect above all… I am very grateful!”
The March 2025 declaration
Gshow reproduced a statement from Matheus Gabriel after the reunion: “É tanto pra falar, que se eu resumisse em um eu te amo infinito, nem caberia…” In English, roughly: “There is so much to say that if I summed it up in one ‘I love you infinitely,’ it wouldn’t even fit…” Gshow also reproduced Maiara’s reply, in which she described him as her “parceiro de vida” (life partner). Both statements were reproduced from the couple’s social-media posts.
The April 2025 birthday tribute
Gshow reproduced Maiara’s birthday message to Matheus Gabriel, which includes the line “Hoje faz dois anos de muita parceria, muita cumplicidade, companheirismo” (“Today marks two years of a lot of partnership, closeness and companionship”). In the same message she places the start of their relationship on his birthday two years earlier.
What is and is not established today
- Established by reporting: the couple were publicly linked in June 2023, Maiara announced a breakup in October 2023, and both spoke publicly about the relationship in early 2025.
- Reported but not independently verified: the reunion in 2024 and 2025 rests on the couple’s own posts as relayed by gshow and CNN Brasil.
- Not established: their relationship status on October 8, 2026. Nothing in the coverage cited here confirms that he is her current partner, so avoid describing him that way without a newer report or post from either of them.
To check the latest status, look for dated posts from both singers on their official social-media accounts, and for recent coverage from the outlets linked above. A post from only one of them is weaker evidence than a joint appearance or statements from both.
