The couple met in Los Angeles in 1998, married in June 2000, and have three children: Keen, Bella Noche, and Odette.
Who Sunrise Coigney is
Sunrise Coigney built her public work in two stages. She modeled first, then moved into acting, and in the late 2010s she turned to retail. Published profiles describe her as a working creative rather than only as the wife of a better-known actor, and her own career is the place to start when looking at who she is.
How Mark Ruffalo and Sunrise Coigney met
Ruffalo has told the story of their first meeting in several interviews. In a Men’s Journal profile published December 4, 2017, he said he met Coigney in 1998 on a Los Angeles street while walking with a mutual friend. He recalled his reaction at once: “I saw her and was like, I’m going to marry that girl.”
He described the courtship as slow going. In the same profile he said it “took some doing,” and he portrayed himself at the time as someone without a driver’s license or a credit card, living in a converted garage. Coigney, by his account, was the first to back his acting. He recalled her telling him, “I know you’re a really good actor,” and his reply that she had not yet seen him act. Her answer, as he quoted it: “I just know it, I can tell.”

Her modeling and acting work
Elle reports that Coigney modeled before she started acting. Her screen credits include the following, as listed by Elle:
- Campfire Stories
- 100 Centre Street
- In the Cut
- Line of Fire
Harper’s Bazaar also describes her modeling and acting background. Coigney later stepped back from acting to raise her family, and her creative work shifted to running a shop.

Sunny’s Callicoon Pop
Sunny’s Callicoon Pop was a home-decor boutique in Callicoon, New York, which Coigney ran from 2017 until it closed in 2023, according to Elle and Harper’s Bazaar. The shop is closed. Readers should not treat it as a current business.
In a remark quoted by Elle from WWD, Coigney said of the shop: “I wouldn’t put one thing in my store that I wouldn’t want for myself.” The WWD article itself was not available for direct review, so the quotation is attributed to Elle’s reporting.

Published reporting does not establish Coigney’s current professional projects, or where the couple live now. Older articles that describe their home or work should be read as describing the time they were published. Any detail about her present-day activities, her private family life, or her finances is beyond what the available sources support, and this article does not add such claims.
For readers looking for the biographical basics, the marriage date, the children’s names, and the boutique’s 2017 to 2023 run are the points that are established across the reporting cited here.
