Magpie is an Arkham inmate who shares a cell with Sofia Falcone during Sofia’s confinement. She is played by Marié Botha. In the show, Magpie is part of Sofia’s experience inside Arkham rather than the focus of a separate origin story.

The Penguin is an eight-episode DC Studios series starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, also known as the Penguin. It continues the crime saga begun by Matt Reeves’ The Batman. DC’s series page provides the broader show context, but does not list Magpie specifically.
What happens to Magpie in episode four?
Spoilers: Magpie tries to build a rapport with Sofia. She calls Sofia “Hangman,” talks about spending time together in the garden and celebrating life events, and receives Bliss from guards for being “good.” Sofia becomes convinced Magpie is working with Arkham’s doctors and guards to draw information out of her. Sofia kills Magpie in the mess hall.

Is Magpie a DC Comics character?
Yes. In DC Comics, Magpie is Margaret Pye, a former curator at Gotham City’s Museum of Antiquities who becomes a thief. Her crimes involve stealing valuable objects and replacing them with replicas rigged with deadly traps. Comic-history accounts identify The Man of Steel #3 as her first appearance; they disagree on the publication year, so the issue number is the more reliable detail to cite without checking the issue itself.
