Kahhori is an original Mohawk superhero introduced in Marvel Studios’ animated anthology What If…? She first appears in Season 2, Episode 6, “What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World?”, an alternate-reality story in which the Tesseract transforms a lake into a gateway to the stars. Kahhori discovers the power this gives her and works to save her people.
Who is Kahhori?
Kahhori is a young Mohawk woman created for Marvel Studios’ What If…?, rather than a character adapted from the live-action MCU’s main continuity. Marvel’s profile gives her name’s pronunciation as “KAH-HORTI.” Episode writer Ryan Little says Kahhori is a real Wolf Clan name meaning “she stirs the forest,” or describing someone who motivates those around her. Marvel’s character profile attributes that explanation to Little.
Which episode is Kahhori in?
Her debut is “What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World?”, the sixth episode of What If…? Season 2. The Walt Disney Company reported that it premiered on December 27, 2023. Disney’s episode feature describes the story’s conflict: conquistadors besiege Kahhori’s people, and she enters the Forbidden Lake to recruit help from Sky World.
How does Kahhori’s alternate-reality story work?
What If…? is an animated anthology that explores alternate possibilities for the MCU. Kahhori’s episode asks what might have happened if the Tesseract had fallen to Earth in the sovereign Haudenosaunee Confederacy before colonization. In Marvel’s description, the Tesseract’s energy transforms a lake into a passage to the stars. Kahhori enters this new world, discovers her abilities, and seeks allies to protect her people. This is a multiverse story, not an event in the primary live-action MCU timeline. Marvel’s Kahhori profile and its Season 2 announcement describe the series and premise.

What are Kahhori’s powers?
The official summaries connect Kahhori’s power to the Tesseract’s transformation of the lake and her journey into Sky World. They establish that she discovers power there and recruits forces from that realm, but do not provide a full inventory of abilities or define their limits. It is accurate to describe the origin as Tesseract-linked or cosmic; specific feats, range, costs, or vulnerabilities require details beyond those summaries.

Marvel says the episode is told in the Mohawk language and draws on the history of the Akwesasne region in what is now upstate New York. The Walt Disney Company identifies historian Doug George and language expert Cecelia King among Mohawk Nation members who worked with the creative team. George described the story as offering a Native-Mohawk perspective. These are reported details about this episode’s collaborators and approach; they should not be taken to mean that one fictional story represents every Mohawk or Haudenosaunee perspective.
