Who Jery Hewitt was
Hewitt worked behind the scenes as a stunt coordinator, the person who plans and supervises action sequences so that performers can be filmed safely. Entertainment reporting credits him with work on films by the Coen brothers, including The Big Lebowski and No Country for Old Men, and on the original Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. These are the credits named in the coverage, not a complete filmography, and no full career listing was located.

What the dedication says and where it appears
The tribute appears at the end of “The New Normal,” the first episode of season 3. The on-screen card reads:
#1 Best Overall
“In memory of Jery Hewitt and the lives we lost in 2020.”
The card names Hewitt directly and refers to a broader group of people who died in 2020. It does not mention COVID-19 or any cause of death. Readers who want to know what the “lives we lost” refers to should rely on the wording itself, since the card does not spell it out.
Rank #2
The episode it appears on
Peacock lists “The New Normal” as season 3, episode 1, with a runtime of 43 minutes. Its synopsis describes a hospital still struggling through the pandemic when a plane crash lands in the East River. Disney+ also lists the episode as S3:E1 and describes a depleted hospital treating crash victims. Because the dedication closes the episode, it frames the hospital’s story as a memorial as well as a drama. Platform catalogs and regional access change, so confirm the current local listing before sending viewers to a specific service.

The Yahoo Entertainment report attributes a statement to Hewitt’s family. As reported there, the family describes his meticulous attention to detail, which they say kept the people he worked with safe while still allowing the shots to look precise and true to the story. The statement also names his wife, Jennifer Lamb, as his longtime collaborator and recalls two moments from his work: teaching actor Tex Cobb to ride a motorcycle in Raising Arizona, and sending Lamb backward into a snake pit in the remake of True Grit. The statement is quoted as reproduced in that report. A primary family release was not located, so treat these details as secondary reporting.
