What is Six Walks about?
Six Walks: In the Footsteps of Henry David Thoreau follows six journeys inspired by walks taken by the 19th-century writer and naturalist. Shattuck describes the project in the Boston Globe interview as an artistic and literary undertaking: “I just felt inexplicably compelled to follow Thoreau’s walks. And then also compelled — by just who I am as an artist and a writer — to document it.”
The book was originally published by Tin House in 2022, and publisher Zando describes it as Shattuck’s first book. Penguin Random House lists hardcover, paperback, and ebook editions.
