How did Jenna Fischer and Lee Kirk meet?

Kirk wrote and directed the feature film The Giant Mechanical Man. Fischer starred in it and was also a producer, making it a direct collaboration between the two. In the film’s production-note Q&A, Fischer praised Kirk’s work as a director: “Lee’s gift is recognizing and drawing out other people’s talents and that’s what a good director does.” Film production notes

In a 2012 Tribeca interview, Kirk said of working with Fischer, “We communicate well, and we have a really collaborative, fun relationship.” Fischer also described their marriage as collaborative and said that Kirk’s familiarity with her helped him direct her performance. Kirk directed “Vandalism,” season nine, episode fourteen of The Office. He also appeared on the show as Clark, the lactation consultant.
