Dimitri Hamlin is the son of actor Harry Hamlin and Swiss actress Ursula Andress, best known for playing Honey Ryder in the 1962 James Bond film Dr. No. The family connection is well documented; details about Dimitri’s present-day work and personal life are more limited. Here’s what reliable profiles report about his parents, upbringing and public appearances.
Who is Dimitri Hamlin?
Dimitri Hamlin is the only child of Harry Hamlin and Ursula Andress. People’s 2024 profile reports that he was born on May 19, 1980, and graduated from Princeton University with a degree in philosophy. The sources do not establish that his parents married.
Accounts disagree about his birthplace: Bravo says Rome, while People’s profile, citing a HuffPost contributor page, gives Los Angeles. Neither account resolves the discrepancy, so his birthplace is best left unsettled.
Why is Ursula Andress called a Bond girl?
Andress played Honey Ryder in Dr. No (1962), the first James Bond film. The role is the Bond connection behind the description of Dimitri’s mother as a Bond girl. Bravo’s profile identifies Andress with the role.

How did Harry Hamlin and Ursula Andress meet?
Harry Hamlin and Andress reportedly met while working on Clash of the Titans. The film connection is reported in The Independent’s 2024 interview with Hamlin and People’s profile published via Yahoo. Those accounts do not establish an exact date when they met.
Dimitri was born in 1980, and Hamlin and Andress separated in 1983, according to the same coverage. In a quotation relayed by Bravo from People, Andress reflected on her son around the time of the separation: “Love affairs and husbands can end, but a child is forever. Dimitri is my love now.”
What is known about Dimitri’s education and work?
People’s 2024 profile reports that Dimitri graduated from Princeton with a philosophy degree. It also says he contributed to HuffPost in 2011 and 2012, where his contributor description called him an “ontological anarchist.” That describes a past writing role, not a verified account of his current occupation.
A South China Morning Post profile from December 2024 mentions reported acting and DJ interests. The available profiles do not provide a complete filmography or establish whether he currently works as an actor or DJ.

Why is Dimitri described as “rarely seen”?
The phrase reflects his relative lack of visibility in celebrity coverage, not proof that he avoids public life. The South China Morning Post describes him as a rare red-carpet sight, while also noting reported creative pursuits. The profiles offer only a limited picture of his public appearances and do not include his own current perspective on that characterization.
