Felicity Jones is married to Charles Guard, a British film director and producer. The pair met in Los Angeles, married at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire in June 2018, and, according to the most recent reporting we reviewed, have two children. Guard works in partnership with his brother Thomas under the name the Guard Brothers. Beyond the marriage and his career, the couple keeps most family details private.
Who Charles Guard is
Charles Guard is a British director and producer. Profiles of Jones describe him as her husband and a filmmaker in his own right, and ELLE’s 2025 profile identifies him as one half of the Guard Brothers, the directing and producing duo he runs with his brother Thomas. Guard’s public profile is tied mainly to that work rather than to any on-camera career, and the reporting we reviewed does not describe him as an actor.

How they met, in Jones’s own words
The most detailed account of the relationship comes from a PORTER interview with Jones. She described meeting in an elevator in Los Angeles, saying: “in an elevator in LA. A proper Hollywood love story for two Brits,” she laughs. At that time Guard was working on commercials, while Jones was on the press tour for The Theory of Everything. She added that she kept running into him at the Sunset Tower Hotel before the two finally started talking: “Eventually, we got chatting.”
That is Jones’s recollection as published by PORTER. The interview does not establish when they started dating or when they got engaged, and later profiles do not fill that gap with first-hand detail, so those milestones should not be treated as confirmed dates.

Their 2018 wedding at Sudeley Castle
Vanity Fair reported in September 2018 that Jones had married Guard at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire that June, and the magazine’s profile of Jones also quotes her on their shared profession: “We’re both very, very passionate about what we do. Our work bonds us.” ELLE’s 2025 profile gives the wedding date as June 30, 2018. That exact day comes from ELLE alone, so it should be attributed to that source if you repeat it. The month and venue are the points confirmed by the Vanity Fair report.
Jones has also spoken about the attention the wedding attracted. In an interview with The Guardian, she said pictures from guests’ social-media accounts had circulated publicly. Her explanation of where she draws the line is the clearest statement of the couple’s approach to privacy: “But I think in terms of family and friends and partners, you need to protect them.”
Guard’s directing work
As a director and producer, Guard’s work is mostly shared with his brother Thomas. ELLE lists two feature credits for the Guard Brothers. The credits below are as reported by ELLE; we could not check them against an official studio or agency filmography, so confirm release details there if you need them for citation.
The Uninvited (2009)
ELLE lists The Uninvited as one of the Guard Brothers’ feature films, released in 2009.
Dead Shot (2023)
The more recent credit is Dead Shot, released in 2023. ELLE says Jones collaborated with the Guard Brothers on that project, which is the clearest professional link between the two in the reporting we reviewed. The sources do not specify her role on the film.
Children and family life
The Guardian’s 2023 profile of Jones described her as living in London with her husband, director Charles Guard, and their son. ELLE’s 2025 profile, the most recent reporting we reviewed, says the couple has two children: a son born in April 2020 and a daughter born in 2022. Jones has been quoted describing family life as busy. ELLE quotes her, from a December 2024 People interview, saying: “I have two very young children who like to keep me very firmly indoors.”

Because the 2023 Guardian profile mentions only a son, its household description reflects that moment rather than the couple’s current family. Use the 2025 ELLE report for the number of children and their birth years, and attribute it to ELLE.

The reporting we reviewed does not name the couple’s children, and it offers no further detail about their private lives, daily routines or Guard’s life outside his professional work. Jones’s own statements point to a deliberate choice to keep family and partners out of public view, and that is the position this article follows rather than any speculation about why the couple has kept details limited.
