She is one of 11 siblings, works in law, and connected the way her family communicated about feelings with her tendency to hold back in romantic relationships.
Who is Dina Lupancu?
Lupancu competed on season 29 of The Bachelor, which followed Grant Ellis’s search for a partner. A January 2025 profile by Life & Style reported that she was an associate attorney at Faegre Drinker in Chicago. That is a time-stamped description of her work at the time, not confirmation of her current job title.
The same profile reported that she graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago in 2015 with a BA in political science and criminal law and justice, then earned a JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2018. Those education details were reported by the outlet.
How did growing up in a large family shape her story?
Lupancu is one of 11 siblings, meaning 12 children in the sibling group. In comments on the show reported by Us Weekly, she said her family did not talk about feelings and linked that pattern to how she approached relationships: “We didn’t talk about our feelings. In my relationships, I held back a lot.”

She also said people could perceive her as intimidating or “a little bit of an ice queen.” The contrast between that impression and her account of holding back gave her storyline a personal dimension beyond the size of her family. Us Weekly also reported that her ABC contestant bio described the qualities she hoped to find in a partner.
Why didn’t her family meet Grant during hometowns?
Although Lupancu reached the final four, her parents and siblings did not participate in her hometown visit. In a March 2025 interview with Parade, she explained that her father initially viewed the show as an interesting experiment, but later objected to its premise: a man dating 25 women before potentially getting engaged. Her mother did not want to appear on television.

Lupancu said she had not adequately prepared her family for what taking part would mean: “I just didn’t prepare them enough.” She added of her mother, “My mom didn’t want to be on TV. That was a big one for her.” These are Lupancu’s explanations in the interview, rather than independently established accounts of her relatives’ motives.

With her parents and siblings absent, Grant met Lupancu’s friends instead. Parade reported that he eliminated her after the hometown episode. The episode’s defining tension was not simply that her family was large, but that a close family declined to join a televised dating process that could lead to an engagement.
