In July 2025 he filed for divorce, and the reporting we rely on, which runs through February 2026, describes the case as still in progress. Richards is his estranged wife, not a spouse in an ongoing marriage in the everyday sense. Because this is a live court matter, the status described below is time-stamped and should be checked against a current record before you repeat it as settled.
Who Aaron Phypers is
- Aaron Phypers is an actor and businessman. Reporting from the Los Angeles Times identifies him as Richards’s husband and, in the July 2025 divorce filing, as the petitioner.
- Denise Richards is an actor and reality television personality. Her public profile is closely tied to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which is where she discussed the breakdown of the marriage on air.
The couple began dating in 2017, according to the Los Angeles Times, and married in a private ceremony in Malibu in September 2018.

Is the divorce final?
The most recent reporting describes the divorce as ongoing, and none of the sources used here reports that a final judgment has been entered. Several points follow from that:
- Legal status: Phypers is still Richards’s husband in law until a judgment ends the marriage.
- Personal status: The two are estranged and living apart. The filing lists July 4, 2025 as the separation date.
- What later reporting may show: Orders or a final decree issued after February 2026 are not covered here. The Los Angeles County Superior Court case record is the place to confirm whether the matter has concluded.
The restraining order and the allegations
Richards’s abuse allegations come from her court filing and her later on-air account. Phypers has denied them. The restraining order is a separate matter: according to the Los Angeles Times, a judge granted it in November 2025, and it is reported to run until November 7, 2030. A restraining order is a court action; it is not a finding that every allegation in the case has been proven, and the reporting does not describe one.
#1 Best Overall
When you repeat this story, attribute each claim to its source: the allegations to Richards, the denial to Phypers, and the order to the court.
Temporary spousal support
In February 2026, TMZ reported, based on court documents it obtained, that a judge ordered Phypers to pay temporary spousal support of $5,000 per month while the divorce proceeds. The same report described $30,000 toward attorney and forensic-accounting fees. These are temporary orders reported during the case. They are not the final financial terms of a divorce, and they should not be described as such.

What Richards and Phypers have said publicly
Before the filing: March 2025
In a Bravo interview on March 19, 2025, before the divorce was filed, Richards said: “We respect each other.” She also said: “He’s my best friend too and we just really enjoy each other’s company.”
On television: February 2026
In the February 2026 Bravo account of the show, Richards recalled: “I started crying. I’m like, that’s when I really knew there was no hope at ever, ever salvaging this marriage at all.” This is her account of an incident she describes. It is not a court finding.

Bravo reports that the episode includes a statement from Phypers denying that he ever “physically or emotionally abused Denise,” and calling the accusations “completely false and deeply hurtful.” Read that as his stated denial, shown on television, rather than a verdict.
Where to watch the show

Richards’s and Phypers’s other marriages
Two earlier marriages are often mentioned in profiles of the couple, though they have no bearing on the current case:
- Phypers was previously married to Nicollette Sheridan, a marriage the Los Angeles Times dates from 2015 to 2018.
- Richards was previously married to Charlie Sheen, a marriage the Los Angeles Times dates from 2002 to 2006.
How to check the current status
- Search the Los Angeles County Superior Court’s public case information for Phypers and Richards, using the divorce case name and the July 2025 filing date.
- Look for a judgment of dissolution or an entry of final judgment. If none appears, the divorce is still pending.
- Read any newer reports against the dates above. A report describing an order without a date should not be treated as current.
Because the most recent sources available for this article are from February 2026, anything after that date should be confirmed before you publish or share it.
