Before becoming known through Haack’s HGTV projects and their highly publicized divorce, Hall worked in Southern California law enforcement and later became a Texas real-estate agent. He appeared alongside Haack in renovation-focused programming, but he was not an established television host or reality star before their relationship.
Hall and Haack legally married on October 6, 2021, separated in July 2024, reached a mediated settlement on May 2, 2025, and had their divorce finalized by a judge on August 26, 2025. The couple’s public relationship also included a September 2022 family ceremony in Hawaii, which is why older coverage sometimes gives conflicting wedding dates.

Who is Joshua Hall?
Joshua Hall is a former California police officer and real-estate professional who became widely known after marrying Christina Haack. Haack is associated with shows including Flip or Flop, Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country. During their marriage, Hall became part of the public story around Haack’s homes, renovations and television work.
#1 Best Overall
That television exposure can make Hall look like a reality-TV personality first. The more accurate description is that he entered entertainment coverage through his relationship with Haack and then participated in some of her projects. His earlier professional identity was in law enforcement, followed by Texas real estate.
Early life, age and family
Hall was reportedly born at Fort Hood, the U.S. Army installation now known as Fort Cavazos. His father served in the military, and the family moved frequently before Hall grew up primarily in Southern California. Those details come from biographical material previously published in connection with Hall’s real-estate career, rather than from a publicly available birth or military record.
His age is also not fully independently documented. Biography sites commonly report that he was born on September 19, 1980, which would make him 45 on August 9, 2026. Because major primary sources have not published a verified birth record, that date should be treated as widely reported rather than confirmed.
Hall is the older brother of Jessica Hall and Stacie Adams, formerly Stacie Hall. Both sisters have connections to reality television. Stacie appeared on MTV’s The Hills as “Stacie the Bartender,” while Jessica has appeared in reality programming and has been associated socially and professionally with Kendra Wilkinson. Jessica also had a friendship and podcast connection with Heather Rae El Moussa, who later married Haack’s first husband, Tarek El Moussa.
That extended reality-TV connection is an interesting part of the family background, but it does not establish that Hall entered television through his sisters. His own documented path was police work, real estate and, later, occasional HGTV appearances.
What did Joshua Hall do before real estate?
Hall said he became a police officer at age 21 and spent approximately 16 years in law enforcement. He later medically retired after injuries sustained in the line of duty, according to a former professional biography and reporting by TV Insider and HELLO!.
Some secondary coverage has identified a particular police department, but the strongest accessible reporting supports the broader description of Southern California law-enforcement work rather than a definitive department attribution. It is therefore safer not to state a specific department as settled fact.
After leaving law enforcement, Hall moved into Texas real estate. Historical profiles associated him with Austin brokerage Spyglass Realty, and other coverage connected him with The Foundry Group. He described the career change as a natural fit for his interest in problem-solving and helping people through complicated situations.

Those business links belong to the marriage period; they should not be treated as proof of Hall’s current employer or current business activities.
As of August 9, 2026, the research available for this article does not establish Hall’s current brokerage, active Texas license status or exact employment. A historical Spyglass profile is not proof that he still works there. The Texas Real Estate Commission license portal and the commission’s license-holder dataset are the appropriate places to verify a current license.
Was Joshua Hall married before Christina Haack?
Yes. Hall was previously married to Chelsea Hall. According to coverage of Chelsea’s account, they married in August 2016, moved to Austin in May 2018, separated in February 2021, and Hall filed for divorce in March of that year. Their divorce was finalized in May 2021.
Chelsea later said she did not learn about Hall’s relationship with Christina until the relationship became public. She described the public attention as something that made her own healing more difficult, while also speaking positively about Hall’s role as a provider during their marriage. Those are Chelsea’s personal observations, not a court finding about Hall’s conduct or the timing of any relationship.

Hall and Haack reportedly first met briefly at a real-estate conference several years before they began dating. They reconnected in Tennessee in spring 2021 and started a relationship. Haack went public with Hall in July 2021, writing at the time that she wanted to protect the relationship—and Hall—from the intense scrutiny that came with dating her.
The couple became engaged in September 2021. Their relationship moved quickly, but the public timeline should be read alongside the separate legal timeline of Hall’s earlier divorce: his divorce from Chelsea was reported as finalized in May 2021.
When did Joshua Hall and Christina Haack get married?
There are three dates to distinguish:
- October 6, 2021: the legal marriage date identified in Hall’s later divorce filing.
- April 2022: the month their private marriage became public after Haack changed her name to Christina Hall and media outlets reported the marriage.
- September 2022: the couple held a more public family ceremony in Maui, Hawaii.
In other words, April 2022 was when the marriage was reported, not the legal wedding date. Older articles that call April the wedding date are generally describing the public disclosure rather than the date the marriage took place. Haack used the surname Hall during the marriage and later returned publicly to Haack.
Did Joshua Hall have children?
There is no strong public evidence in the sources reviewed confirming that Hall has biological children of his own. It is more precise to say that no biological children have been publicly confirmed in those sources than to make an absolute statement that he has no children.

During his marriage to Haack, Hall was a stepfather figure to her three children: Taylor and Brayden, whom Haack shares with Tarek El Moussa, and Hudson, whom she shares with Ant Anstead. Public coverage does not establish Hall as their legal parent or document a continuing custody role after the divorce.
Which HGTV shows featured Joshua Hall?
Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country
Hall appeared in connection with Haack’s renovation life on Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country. The latter premiered in January 2023 and followed Haack’s work and life in Tennessee, including Hall’s involvement during their marriage. His appearances were tied to the couple’s home and renovation projects rather than to an independent hosting role.

The Flip Off
HGTV announced The Flip Off in 2024 as a competition initially involving Haack, Hall, Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae El Moussa. The concept placed the former spouses and their partners against one another in a renovation competition.
The show was filmed while Haack and Hall were separating. Its first episode, which premiered in January 2025, was titled “The Breakup” and addressed the split. Haack ultimately competed without Hall against Tarek and Heather. It is more accurate to say that Hall’s planned role changed after the separation during production than to claim, without a direct source, that he was fired from the series.
HGTV’s announced second-season format centered on Haack competing against the El Moussas; Hall was not presented as part of the continuing competition. The HGTV episode guide and the network’s Season 2 announcement provide the clearest production context.
Why did Joshua Hall and Christina Haack divorce?
The legal explanation in both divorce proceedings was irreconcilable differences. Hall listed July 8, 2024, as the separation date, while Haack listed July 7, 2024. Both filed separate divorce petitions on July 15, 2024.
Hall requested spousal support and division of marital and community property. Haack asked that neither party receive spousal support, requested attorney fees, and sought restoration of her surname, Haack. Divorce coverage also reported that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement.
The filings and public statements contained competing accounts of what happened. Haack said the marriage had been troubled for some time and alleged that more than $35,000 in rental income from property she characterized as separate property had been directed to Hall’s personal account. Hall’s filings and statements presented a different account of the breakup and the property issues.
Those claims should not be converted into conclusions. The accessible record does not establish that Hall stole money, married Haack for financial reasons or committed financial abuse. Likewise, it does not establish every allegation Haack made as a court-proven fact. Reports also described disputes involving property access, household expenses and surveillance cameras; these were matters raised in competing filings and coverage, not findings that should be presented as settled misconduct.
What happened to their homes and money?
The divorce produced a mediated settlement rather than a publicly litigated finding resolving every argument in one person’s favor. Settlement details reported from court documents included the following:
| Joshua Hall received or retained | Christina Haack received or retained |
|---|---|
| A Tennessee home and a Tennessee condominium | The Newport Beach mansion and multiple Tennessee properties |
| California land | Her business interests |
| Furniture | Her bank accounts |
| A 2021 Bentley | Two 2021 GMC Yukons |
| A 1970 Chevelle, 1982 DeLorean and 1947 Dodge | A 2021 Polaris Razor and four quads |
| A Honda motorcycle, his bank accounts and his interest in his company | — |
Haack also agreed to make Hall a one-time $300,000 equalization payment. The payment was not described as spousal support, and it should not be treated as the total value of Hall’s settlement or as a measure of his net worth. Both parties waived spousal support. According to Us Weekly’s account of the settlement, Hall did not have to repay a $100,000 advance Haack had provided during the divorce proceedings.

Why was the Tennessee farmhouse important?
A Tennessee farmhouse became one of the central properties in the dispute. Haack had bought the farmhouse before the marriage and characterized it as separate property. Hall argued that mortgage payments made during the marriage gave him a community-property interest in it.

The settlement gave Haack control of the farmhouse, while Hall retained another Tennessee property. In June 2026, Realtor.com reported that Haack was preparing to relist the farmhouse. A possible listing is not the same as a completed sale or a verified market valuation.

The distinction between settlement and final judgment matters: the case was resolved by agreement in May, but the marriage legally ended when the judge finalized the divorce in August.

Coverage has characterized Hall as someone who prefers a more private life and has no desire to become a celebrity. His public profile remains tied to his former law-enforcement career, historical real-estate work, HGTV appearances and the divorce from Haack—not to a separately documented television career. Celebrity websites have published net-worth estimates, but no reliable public accounting supports a specific figure, so those estimates are best disregarded.
