Wait, was that Spider-Man in Invincible Season 2’s finale? No. The brief cameo is Agent Spider, a distinct character and a deliberate Spider-Man homage—not Marvel’s Spider-Man appearing in the show. Josh Keaton voices Agent Spider, bringing an added connection to his earlier role as Peter Parker in The Spectacular Spider-Man.
Who is Agent Spider?
Agent Spider appears briefly in Season 2, Episode 8, “I Thought You Were Stronger.” After Angstrom Levy sends Mark Grayson through one of his portals, Mark arrives in another universe and encounters the Spider-Man-inspired character.
The distinction matters: the series does not identify Agent Spider as Marvel’s Peter Parker or present him as Spider-Man entering Invincible continuity. He is a separate character designed to evoke the familiar hero while giving the television scene its own version of the comic-book nod. ComicBook.com’s report identifies the cameo and its connection to the comic material.
Why is Agent Spider in the finale?
The cameo recalls an Invincible–Spider-Man comic crossover and the multiverse material associated in reporting with Invincible #33. The comic version could use Spider-Man in the encounter; the television adaptation instead places Agent Spider in the role, preserving the surprise and broad function of the moment without making the Marvel character part of the show.

Why wasn’t Spider-Man in the Invincible finale?
Invincible creator Robert Kirkman said the production wanted to keep the comic moment while making changes after Amazon’s legal department reviewed the design. As reported by ComicBook.com, citing Kirkman’s interview with Variety, the review called for adjustments including moving away from particular colors and other recognizable elements. Kirkman stressed that the character was Agent Spider, not Spider-Man.

Keaton previously voiced Peter Parker in The Spectacular Spider-Man, making his casting a purposeful wink for viewers who recognize that performance. Reporting attributes the suggestion to supervising director Dan Duncan. Keaton’s casting is a reference to his earlier Spider-Man work; it does not mean he is reprising Marvel’s Spider-Man in Invincible.
