News. Her death drives the episode’s story: her estate is left to Springfield Elementary to support the school’s music program. A line in the season premiere about Mr. Largo dying is a separate joke, not another confirmed death.

What happens in “Sashes to Sashes”?
Alice’s estate becomes the means to fund a new music program at Springfield Elementary, tying her death directly to the episode’s school storyline. Disney+ lists “Sashes to Sashes” as Season 37, Episode 7. Its official synopsis focuses on Bart running for student council president against Mayor Quimby’s son; it does not mention Alice’s death. Disney+’s episode listing confirms the title and number.
Did Mr. Largo die in the Season 37 premiere?
No confirmed death is established by the premiere line. In Season 37’s opening episode, “Thrifty Ways to Thieve Your Mother,” student Devin says the fashion club took over the music room “when Mr. Largo died,” then suggests that Mr. Largo may instead have jury duty. The Independent reports that co-executive producers Jessica Conrad and Cesar Mazariegos said the line was intended as a joke. The Independent reported their clarification on September 29, 2025.

How the two Season 37 references differ
| Reference | Episode | What is established | Story consequence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mr. Largo | “Thrifty Ways to Thieve Your Mother,” the premiere | A student makes a joking remark about his death; the producers described the line as a joke, as reported by The Independent. | The remark explains the music room’s use in the gag; it does not establish a death-driven plot. |
| Alice Glick | “Sashes to Sashes,” Season 37, Episode 7 | E! News reports that she dies during Lovejoy’s sermon. Disney+ confirms the episode listing but its synopsis does not mention the death. | Her estate funds a new Springfield Elementary music program, according to E! News. |
Does Alice Glick’s death mean she is gone permanently?
The episode’s reported events establish her death within this storyline, but they do not settle what the show might do with the character in later episodes. Mazariegos described the series’ continuity as “such a cartoony world,” noting that even a character caught in an exploding car is not necessarily dead forever. That comment is a reason to avoid treating a Simpsons death as an irrevocable continuity rule; it does not undo what happens to Alice in “Sashes to Sashes.”
