Swift’s representative confirmed Lubeck’s role to the Associated Press, while ABC News reported that Kelce designed the ring with her. The center stone was identified as an old mine brilliant cut; the exact carat weight and price have not been confirmed in the cited coverage.
1. Kindred Lubeck designed the ring
The Associated Press reported that a representative for Swift confirmed Lubeck as the designer. Lubeck is a goldsmith and hand engraver associated with New York City’s Artifex Fine Jewelry studio. The AP report and ABC News identify her role and studio.
2. Travis Kelce worked with Lubeck on the design
Kelce’s role was collaborative, not simply the selection of a finished ring. ABC News reported that he designed it with Lubeck, and British Vogue likewise described him as working with her. The couple announced their engagement on August 26, 2025, according to British Vogue.
3. The center stone is an old mine brilliant cut
Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine, identified the diamond as an old mine brilliant cut in comments reported by the AP. ABC News, summarizing information from the Gemological Institute of America, describes an old mine cut as squarish, with a relatively small table, a larger culet and a higher crown. The historic style was common from the early 1700s through the late 1800s.

The outline may look cushion-like, but that resemblance does not make the stone a modern cushion cut. The AP describes old mine brilliant cuts as typically boxy with rounded corners and notes that the historical cut was intended to sparkle by candlelight. The AP’s account and ABC News’ explanation provide those descriptions.
4. Published descriptions report a yellow-gold bezel and engraved details
The AP describes a yellow-gold bezel setting, in which a rim of metal surrounds the stone rather than holding it with separate prongs. British Vogue reports filigree detail along the band. Those published descriptions support a vintage-inspired appearance, but they do not establish every construction detail of the ring.

5. Hand engraving is central to Lubeck’s work
Sotheby’s reports that Lubeck trained in hand engraving with her father and founded Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York City. In a Sotheby’s interview, she described her aim this way: “My role in the jewelry world is to keep handcraft alive.” She also said, “If I’m not inspired by the stone, I cannot make the piece of jewelry – it won’t happen.” Sotheby’s feature attributes both statements to Lubeck.
6. The ring’s exact weight and price have not been confirmed
The AP reported that Swift’s publicist identified the cut but provided no further detail. The attributed reporting cited here does not confirm the ring’s carat weight, grading or price. Figures published elsewhere as expert estimates should not be treated as confirmed by Swift, Kelce or Lubeck.

Old mine diamonds belong to an earlier cutting tradition, with larger facets and an open culet among the features Sotheby’s describes for antique stones. Sotheby’s jewelry specialist Kathleen Smith Craig called their character difficult to reproduce in modern cuts: “Old Mine diamonds just have a certain uniqueness that’s hard to replicate in modern-cut diamonds.” The statement is Craig’s assessment, not a grading claim about Swift’s particular stone.
