Those results support ranking Triple H’s two title-changing victories, but they do not establish a complete list of everyone who ever won a world title from Orton.
What counts as beating Orton for a world championship?
A qualifying result must transfer a WWE-recognized world title away from Orton. Beating him in a non-title match does not qualify, and a title win by Orton over someone else cannot be reversed into a loss by Orton. The examples below cover the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship; they do not claim to catalogue every title lineage or every Orton reign.
In a multi-person match, the new champion may win by defeating another participant rather than personally pinning or submitting Orton. Backlash 2008 is included on that basis: Triple H won the championship after eliminating Orton last in a Fatal 4-Way, according to WWE’s Backlash/Last Man Standing retrospective.

This is an editorial ranking of the documented matches, weighing the championship involved, the match circumstances, and the result’s story impact—not an official WWE score or a ranking of every opponent in Orton’s career.

Backlash 2008 — WWE Championship
Triple H won the WWE Championship in a Fatal 4-Way that also involved Orton, John Cena, and John “Bradshaw” Layfield. WWE’s retrospective says Triple H eliminated then-champion Orton last. The multi-person format makes this different from a one-on-one title change: the result counts because Triple H won the championship in a match in which Orton was champion, even though the available account does not establish that Triple H personally pinned or submitted him. Its top placement reflects the WWE Championship and the decisive end to Orton’s reign.

Unforgiven 2004 — World Heavyweight Championship
Orton had become World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam, then defended the title against Triple H at Unforgiven. WWE’s event history documents the championship match, and WWE’s Triple H history identifies the result as Triple H winning his ninth world championship. This is the cleaner, direct title-match example in the documented set: Triple H beat the champion in a singles match to take the title.

Matches that look relevant but do not qualify
- WrestleMania 25: Triple H defeated Orton, but WWE describes the result as Triple H retaining the WWE Championship. It was not a title change. WWE’s WrestleMania 25 match page.
- WrestleMania 21: Batista became World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Triple H, not Orton. It is not evidence that Batista took the title from Orton. WWE’s WrestleMania 21 results.
- WrestleMania 36: Edge beat Orton in a Last Man Standing Match, but WWE lists Drew McIntyre’s separate WWE Championship victory over Brock Lesnar. Edge’s win over Orton was not a world-title change. WWE’s WrestleMania 36 results.
- TLC 2013: WWE’s title history says Orton defeated World Heavyweight Champion John Cena and captured both titles. That was Orton winning from Cena, not Cena winning from Orton. WWE Championship history.
Is this a complete list of everyone who beat Orton for a world title?
No. The official WWE pages cited here document Triple H’s two title-changing wins and help rule out several easily confused results, but they do not provide a complete ledger of Orton’s world-title losses. A definitive “every wrestler” list would require checking all of Orton’s recognized world-title reigns against official match results and title histories, including how multi-person matches are counted. On the evidence established here, Triple H is the documented name; that is not proof that no other wrestler qualifies.
