Their work in theater shaped the setting in which Iain first became interested in performing, but accounts of his childhood describe his parents as cautious about acting and guided by whether he enjoyed it and it remained healthy for the family.
Who are Iain Armitage’s parents?
His father is Euan Morton, an actor and singer from Scotland. His mother is Lee Armitage, a theater producer. The Television Academy identifies them by name and occupation in its profile of Iain Armitage; a CBS/Paramount talent biography also names them as his parents.
PEOPLE reports that Euan and Lee met in 2005 and had Iain in 2008. A 2018 profile in Virginia Living says they married in 2005. These are year-level dates, rather than a more specific timeline.
What does Iain Armitage’s dad, Euan Morton, do?
Morton is a Scottish actor-singer with a career in musical theater. He is known for playing Boy George in the musical Taboo, a performance that earned him a Tony nomination. He also played King George III in Hamilton. Virginia Living’s 2018 profile additionally discusses his roles in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Parade and Sondheim on Sondheim. Those are career credits, not claims about current engagements.

In the Virginia Living profile, Morton praised his son: “He’s very talented. He’s a fantastic actor and a good person. He is naturally altruistic.”
What does Iain Armitage’s mother, Lee, do?
Lee Armitage is a theater producer. She has also spoken about how Iain’s interest in theater began as an audience member, before he started performing. The Television Academy reports that she recalled him loving shows from a very young age, then acting out scenes and singing songs he had heard.

“Iain always loved watching shows from the time he was tiny,” Lee told the Television Academy.
She added: “I thought I was raising the most appreciative audience member, and I was content with that. Then he started to enjoy acting out scenes he’d seen, or singing songs he’d heard. I still didn’t equate his interest with talent.”

The Television Academy says Iain’s parents filmed one of his early theater reviews and later posted his reviews on YouTube after friends asked to see them. The profile also notes that Lee opened gifts sent to him first to check that they were safe.

They supported his interest, but did not treat acting as an unconditional commitment. In a 2017 Los Angeles Times interview, Iain described an agreement with his parents: “As long as I stay the kind of boy that I am and keep my end of the bargain, I can do it.”

Lee explained the family’s condition in the same interview: “But he was so excited about it. So we made a pact that as long as he likes doing it — and as long as we see it’s not negatively affecting him — he can do it. If it doesn’t work for our family, we’ll talk.” The account presents the decision as dependent on Iain’s enjoyment and the effect on him and the family, rather than his parents pushing him into the profession.
PEOPLE’s report, updated April 16, 2025, says Lee had paused producing work at the time to live with Iain in Los Angeles while he worked on his acting career, while Euan continued theater work. Virginia Living described a similar arrangement in 2018, when Lee paused producing to accompany him during filming. These are dated snapshots of the family’s arrangements, not confirmation of their current work or residence.
