Amon-Ra recalled the effect this had on his sense of strength: “Lifting with my dad at a young age, you felt like you were stronger than every kid on the field.” That is Amon-Ra’s recollection, not an independent assessment of the training’s effects.

Who is Miriam Brown, and where is she from?
Miriam is from Germany. NFL.com identifies her hometown as Leverkusen, and the Foundation recounts that she met John while he was traveling in Germany for bodybuilding.

Languages and schooling
In a 2021 interview with the Lions, Amon-Ra said he learned German and English while growing up, connecting those languages to his mother and home life. He learned French through school. The Foundation describes the brothers attending a French academy in Los Angeles and Amon-Ra spending a semester at a French school in Paris.
NFL.com characterizes John as focused on physical development and Miriam as emphasizing academics. The Foundation’s account likewise highlights grades, language learning, and schooling. These are reported aspects of their parenting, not evidence that either parent’s contribution was exclusive.

A family shaped by football, without a single explanation
John and Miriam raised three sons who went on to play high-level football, and the public accounts describe both athletic preparation and academic and language priorities at home. That context helps explain the family’s story, but it does not reduce the brothers’ individual careers to a parenting formula.
For a current detail about the family’s connection to Germany, a March 2026 Lions article reports that Amon-Ra speaks fluent German and has dual citizenship. Those details are separate from the basic account of who his parents are and what they are known for.
