Contemporary reports also name two other watches, while a scene-specific Reverso identification carries a model-number discrepancy.
Which Jaeger-LeCoultre watch is most closely linked to Tony Stark?
The strongest contemporaneous identification is the Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX 3 Tourbillon. In an article published on 26 April 2010, the French watch publication Les Rhabilleurs reported that Robert Downey Jr. wore the watch at the Los Angeles premiere the previous day and that Tony Stark wore it in the movie. The report connects the same model to both the actor’s promotional appearance and the character on screen; those are related, but distinct, claims.
A separate article published two days later by Professional Jeweller also names the AMVOX 3 Tourbillon, describing it as a platinum model. It says Downey wore the watch at photo calls and the premiere, and reports that several Jaeger-LeCoultre watches appeared in the film.
Other Jaeger-LeCoultre models reported in the film
Professional Jeweller’s 28 April 2010 report names three models as featured in Iron Man 2. Its list makes clear why the AMVOX 3 should not be presented as the only JLC watch associated with the movie.

| Model name reported | What the source says | Evidence context |
|---|---|---|
| AMVOX 3 Tourbillon | Named as a watch featured in the film; described as platinum. | Contemporaneous trade coverage; the separate Les Rhabilleurs report specifically links it to Tony Stark on screen and Downey at the premiere. |
| Master Grand Tourbillon 1833 Edition | Named among the Jaeger-LeCoultre watches featured in the film. | Contemporaneous trade coverage; no particular scene is identified in the report. |
| Grande Reverso 986 | Named among the Jaeger-LeCoultre watches featured in the film. | Contemporaneous trade coverage; no particular scene is identified in the report. |
The source for all three entries is Professional Jeweller, published 28 April 2010. It also quoted Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jérôme Lambert saying the company was “thrilled” to have its timepieces showcased on Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr.
What is the Reverso in the bar scene?
A specialist WatchSpotting sighting identifies a rectangular Reverso in the bar scene and says earlier film-era reporting called it the Reverso Grande 985. That is not the same model name given in Professional Jeweller’s list, which says Grande Reverso 986. The available reports do not resolve whether these names refer to the same watch, so they should be kept as separate source-specific identifications rather than treated as interchangeable.
The scene-level claim comes from WatchSpotting, a specialist sighting source, rather than an accessible studio or manufacturer costume record. Its reported scene detail is useful, but it is a different kind of evidence from the broad film list in the 2010 trade article.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What can and cannot be concluded
- Best-supported direct answer: contemporaneous coverage identifies the AMVOX 3 Tourbillon as a watch worn by Tony Stark in the film.
- Additional reported film watches: Professional Jeweller also names the Master Grand Tourbillon 1833 Edition and Grande Reverso 986.
- Separate scene identification: WatchSpotting identifies a Reverso in the bar scene and recounts the name Reverso Grande 985; the difference from the 986 listing remains unresolved.
- Scope of the evidence: these are published identifications from the film’s 2010 release period and a specialist scene sighting, not an accessible official costume inventory or independent frame-by-frame verification.
The reports establish historical film associations, not current stock, pricing, seller reliability, or availability. Anyone looking for the AMVOX 3 should verify the exact model and the seller’s claims directly with Jaeger-LeCoultre or a reputable specialist dealer.
