Bonnie Wright and Jamie Campbell Bower are the documented example of two actors from the Harry Potter films who dated each other. Their relationship was reported to have begun in 2009; they announced their engagement in April 2011, and the engagement ended in 2012. The available reporting supports dating and engagement—not marriage.
Bonnie Wright and Jamie Campbell Bower
Wright played Ginny Weasley in the films, while Bower appeared as a young Gellert Grindelwald. CBS News reported that they began dating in 2009 and announced their engagement in April 2011. CBS later reported that they called off the engagement in 2012.
Those reports establish a relationship between two people who both appeared in the film series. They do not establish that the pair married or remained together after their engagement ended. CBS News’s engagement report and its report on the engagement ending are the cited timeline.
Did they meet on a Harry Potter film?
The documented reporting establishes that Wright and Bower were both in the films and dated; it does not establish where or how they met. Being co-stars in the same franchise is not, by itself, proof that a relationship began on set.

Actor relationships are different from Harry’s romances
Harry’s relationships with Cho Chang and Ginny Weasley are part of the fictional story, not evidence that Daniel Radcliffe dated either actor. In an interview, Radcliffe discussed Harry’s love life as the character’s history. TIME’s interview with Radcliffe concerns that fictional dating history.
Radcliffe’s real-life relationship with Erin Darke is another distinct case: the cited coverage says they met while working on Kill Your Darlings, not while co-starring in Harry Potter. TIME’s report on Radcliffe and Darke places their connection in that separate production.

What the record supports
- Both appeared in the films: Bonnie Wright and Jamie Campbell Bower.
- Reported relationship timeline: dating began in 2009; their engagement was announced in April 2011 and called off in 2012, according to CBS News.
- What not to infer: the films’ fictional romances do not establish the actors’ dating lives, and a relationship associated with another production is not a Harry Potter co-star relationship.
The official Wizarding World cast feature provides background on the actors and films. Among the examples supported by the cited reporting here, Wright and Bower are the confirmed pair who dated.
