No Fallout game is set in Colorado. Según the game coverage reviewed for this explainer, Colorado has been mentioned in the franchise, including in connection with the Legion, but no game has directly taken players there. The Season Two finale, “The Strip,” is what puts Colorado on the map for the show, and it does so as a lead rather than a destination: the Ghoul heads there on the strength of a postcard, and the episode never shows him finding his family.
What the finale sets in motion
The Season Two finale resolves some threads and leaves others pointed toward open conflict. In order, the key beats are:
- Lucy stops the mainframe and confronts Hank. Hank wipes his memory, which leaves his plans and his future unresolved (GamesRadar+ finale explainer, Season Two).
- Lucy and Maximus reunite. They enter the Lucky 38 and see the Legion marching toward New Vegas. The episode establishes an impending conflict rather than settling who will control the city.
- The Ghoul reaches the management Vault. Barb’s and Janey’s cryopods are empty. Barb’s postcard points him toward Colorado, and he reads it as the first sign in 200 years that his family may be alive. Their fate is not confirmed.
- The post-credits scene. Dane gives Brotherhood elder Quintus plans labeled “Liberty Prime Alpha.” This is a tease, not a confirmed weapon or a preview of how the next conflict unfolds.
The postcard: what it does and does not establish
The postcard is the only thing that connects the Ghoul to a place, so it carries the episode’s emotional and narrative weight. Its message, “Colorado was a good idea,” is written to give him a reason to keep searching. It is a clue, not a location report.
What it supports
- Barb and Janey were, at some point, in a position to leave the Vault’s cryogenic storage.
- Barb considered Colorado a destination worth choosing.
- The Ghoul has a concrete next step, which sets up the direction of Season Three.
What it does not prove
- That Barb and Janey are alive.
- That they are in Colorado now, or have been there since leaving the Vault.
- That the family reunion will happen in the next season. The finale does not show it, and the sources reviewed do not confirm Season Three’s geography or outcome.
Is Colorado a Fallout game setting?
The title question mixes two different things: where the games take place, and where the show is heading. Keeping them separate answers both.

| Question | Answer | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Has Colorado been mentioned in the Fallout franchise? | Yes, including in relation to the Legion | Insider Gaming explainer, February 4, 2026 |
| Has any Fallout game directly visited Colorado? | No, according to the cited game coverage | Insider Gaming explainer, February 4, 2026 |
| Does the Season Two finale take the story to Colorado? | It sends the Ghoul toward Colorado; he does not arrive | Season Two finale as described by GamesRadar+ |
| Is Colorado confirmed as a Season Three setting? | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Prime Video catalog and Bethesda series pages describe the show’s franchise context only |
The practical answer is that Colorado is new territory for the screen series. It is not a region that any game has previously shown.
New Vegas as the prize
Showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet told TheWrap in a February 5, 2026 interview that New Vegas came through the bombs relatively undamaged, because House’s missiles protected it from the worst of the destruction. She called the city “a crown jewel” that “many factions want accordingly.” That framing explains why the finale spends its closing minutes on the Legion’s advance rather than on resolution.

The three factions named in that interview each play a different role in the coming struggle:
| Faction | Claim to power, as described | Vision for order or civilization | Revealed in the finale vs. only teed up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Legion | Marching toward New Vegas | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Shown on the march; its control of the city is not resolved |
| NCR | Named by the showrunner as a major player in the struggle | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Only teed up; no finale scene establishes its position |
| Robert House | Named as a major player; House’s missiles spared the city from the worst damage | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Its role in the city’s survival is established as background; its future role is only teed up |
The table shows what is established on screen and what is only implied. The finale does not say which faction will win, and the sources reviewed do not assign one.

What the creators say about the game endings
Because New Vegas has multiple endings in the original game, many viewers wonder which one the show treats as canon. Robertson-Dworet addressed this in the same TheWrap interview. She said the team wanted “as much as possible for them to live in the same universe,” and that the goal was to accommodate as many player experiences as possible. She acknowledged that some details may read as implying a particular ending.
That is a statement of approach, not a promise that every game outcome will stay unchanged. Nothing in the coverage reviewed designates a single New Vegas ending as canon for the series.

What is not yet known
- Whether Barb and Janey are alive, and where they are.
- Whether Season Three is set in Colorado, or how much of it takes place there.
- Whether Liberty Prime Alpha is built, and how it would affect the conflict over New Vegas.
- Which faction, if any, gains control of New Vegas.
The Prime Video catalog page and Bethesda’s official series page confirm the show’s place in the franchise and its setting roughly 200 years after the apocalypse. They do not confirm future plot details, and the finale’s closing threads are best read as setup until the next season answers them.
