Treat it as a reported characterization, not a current fact.
What is confirmed about the subpoena
TheWrap reported that Justin Baldoni dropped his subpoena against Swift in May 2025. The same coverage said Lively’s spokesperson was pleased that the probe had ended. These are two reported events: a legal withdrawal and a spokesperson’s reaction to it. Neither says anything about how the two women communicate in private.

What the May 2025 Us Weekly report says
Us Weekly’s May 31, 2025 exclusive is the source of most of the friendship coverage that followed. It quoted an unnamed source who said there had been “radio silence” between Swift and Lively since the subpoena was dropped, and that their relationship had “stalled.” Any use of those lines needs the same attribution: an anonymous source, not Swift or Lively.
The report supports a narrow set of claims:
- As of late May 2025, one person familiar with the situation described the friendship as cooler than before.
- The report does not establish what the two women have said to each other since, or whether they are in contact now.
- Its description is more than a year old, so it cannot describe the relationship in October 2026.
Swift’s representative on It Ends With Us
Us Weekly also reproduced a statement from Swift’s representative. It said Swift’s connection to the film It Ends With Us was the licensing of her song “My Tears Ricochet,” and that she had no creative involvement in the movie. This is the representative’s account, presented as their position. It is not an independent finding, and it does not address the friendship.

Messages cited in court documents
Marie Claire UK reported in January 2026 that messages between Swift and Lively, cited in court documents, discussed a shift in their friendship. It quoted a December 4, 2024 text from Lively: “I have no reason to ask, but I dunno, I’ve been feeling like I should… is everything ok?” Marie Claire UK’s article is secondary coverage. Check the wording against the filing before reproducing the text as an exact quotation, and do not read a single message as a description of the friendship’s current state.
Later legal context
The Associated Press reported on August 26, 2026 that a judge awarded Lively $363,245 in attorneys’ fees and $44,206 in costs, following the settlement. These are legal-case figures. They show that the litigation continued after the subpoena episode. They say nothing about whether the women are friends.

How to read a new claim about their friendship
Sort any claim into one of three categories before you accept it:
- Direct statements: an on-the-record quote from Swift or Lively, or from a representative speaking for them, with a date. None of the reporting reviewed here contains a direct statement from either woman about the friendship’s current state.
- Anonymous-source reporting: useful for what someone close to the situation said at a specific time, but it cannot be checked and does not describe the present.
- Observable or procedural events: such as the withdrawal of the subpoena or a court award. These are verifiable, but they show the legal status of a case, not the private state of a friendship.
Some signals should not be used as evidence at all: social-media activity, lyrics, or an absence from an event. A missing guest or a silent feed can have many explanations.

What remains unestablished
Some later commentary makes claims about wedding attendance and invitations. The available reporting does not independently establish those details, so this article does not state that Lively was or was not invited. The Brewtiful Living synthesis, updated October 4, 2026, makes the same caution: it reports that neither woman has publicly declared the friendship over, and its inferences should not be read as confirmation of either a break or a reconciliation.
When a named source on the record speaks to the friendship, that statement will be the first reliable update to the May 2025 picture. Until then, the accurate description is a reported strain, dated to 2025, with the current state unconfirmed.
