Thomas Randolph remains convicted in the 2008 killings of his wife Sharon Randolph and Michael Miller. In August 2026, the Nevada Supreme Court affirmed the convictions from his 2023 retrial and the aggregate sentence of 720 months to life. The National reported on October 2, 2026, that Randolph is serving that sentence at Lovelock Correctional Centre in Nevada; the court order confirms his sentence, but not his current facility.

Randolph is reported to be at Lovelock Correctional Centre in Pershing County, Nevada. That location comes from The National’s October 2, 2026 report, rather than an independently confirmed corrections locator. The Nevada Supreme Court’s August 2026 order confirms his convictions and aggregate sentence of 720 months to life—60 years to life—but does not identify a prison facility. The court’s order affirmed the judgment after finding no error in the issues raised on appeal.
What was Thomas Randolph convicted of?
A jury at Randolph’s 2023 retrial convicted him of conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon. The victims in the case were Sharon Randolph and Michael Miller. The Nevada Supreme Court affirmed that judgment in 2026.
The case began on May 8, 2008, when Randolph called 911 and told police that an intruder had shot Sharon and that he had shot the intruder. Officers found both Sharon and Miller dead. In its account of the case, the State argued that Randolph enlisted Miller to kill Sharon in a staged burglary for insurance proceeds, then killed Miller. That is the prosecution’s theory; Randolph has denied killing Sharon.

Why was Randolph’s first conviction overturned?
Randolph’s original conviction, entered in 2017, did not remain in force. In December 2020, the Nevada Supreme Court reversed it and ordered a new trial because evidence related to the earlier death of Becky Gault carried a substantial risk of unfair prejudice. The court concluded that the State had not shown the error was harmless. The 2020 opinion addressed a trial-evidence error; it did not acquit Randolph in the case involving Sharon and Miller. The State retried him in 2023, leading to the convictions affirmed in 2026.
What happened in the cases involving Randolph’s other wife?
Gault’s death is part of the history discussed in the appeals, but it is not a murder conviction against Randolph. The Nevada Supreme Court’s 2020 opinion says he was acquitted of Gault’s murder in Utah in 1989. It also records that he pleaded guilty to felony witness tampering related to an attempt to have a witness killed, and that Utah later expunged records related to that prosecution and conviction. Those procedural facts are distinct from his Nevada convictions for the deaths of Sharon and Miller.

What has Randolph said about the killings?
Randolph’s account, as summarized in the 2020 Nevada Supreme Court opinion, was that he and Sharon returned home, she went inside first, and he later encountered and shot a masked intruder. At his April 2024 sentencing, The National reported that Randolph continued to deny responsibility, quoting him as saying: “I didn’t kill Sharon. I have nothing to do with this.” That statement is Randolph’s denial; the jury convicted him, and the state supreme court later affirmed the judgment.
