Where Is Lisa Wilkinson? Her Career After the 2023 Logies Swipe

Lisa Wilkinson is publicly active as an author, but the “AWOL” headline refers to a television break reported in August 2023—not to her current whereabouts. Nine reported that she appeared on Today in April 2026 to discuss a new book. The available reporting does not establish where she lives or her day-to-day location.

Why Lisa Wilkinson was called “AWOL” in 2023

The headline came from a PerthNow article published on 1 August 2023, after Logies host Sam Pang made a pointed joke while Wilkinson was not at the ceremony. PerthNow quoted Pang: “A reminder to all winners out there, make sure that you don’t mix your acceptance speech with an active court case.” The publication described the line as a reference to Wilkinson’s 2022 Logies acceptance speech and the then-pending criminal trial of Bruce Lehrmann. That is PerthNow’s account of the joke’s context, not a court finding. PerthNow’s 1 August 2023 report.

What was happening with her television work

PerthNow reported that Wilkinson stepped down from The Project in November 2022 and was taking a break from on-camera work. The article said she had not appeared on screen since leaving and reported an expectation that she would not return to television until 2024 because of ongoing legal proceedings involving Brittany Higgins and Bruce Lehrmann. Those statements describe reporting from August 2023; they should not be read as a current account or as proof that she stayed off television after 2024.

In announcing her departure on The Project, Wilkinson described facing “relentless, targeted toxicity by some sections of the media” and spoke about its toll on her and people she loved, as quoted by PerthNow.

What later reporting says about Lisa Wilkinson

A Today appearance in April 2026

Nine reported that Wilkinson returned to Today on 14 April 2026 to discuss a new book. She co-hosted the program with Karl Stefanovic from 2007 to 2017, according to Nine. The reported appearance establishes that she was on the program on that occasion; it does not establish a permanent return to television. Nine’s report of Wilkinson’s Today appearance.

Her work as an author

In an interview published on 24 April 2026, The Guardian discussed Wilkinson’s work on The Titanic Story of Evelyn, about Evelyn Marsden, whom the newspaper describes as the only Australian-born survivor of the Titanic. The Guardian calls Wilkinson a former television presenter turned author and reports that she resigned from The Project in late 2022. Read the Guardian interview.

So, where is Lisa Wilkinson now?

The reporting establishes that Wilkinson was publicly active as an author in 2026 and appeared on Today in April that year. It does not establish her present physical location or residence. The 2023 “AWOL” framing was about her absence from that Logies ceremony and her then-reported television break, not evidence that she had disappeared.
