Daryl Hannah is still working, with recent coverage describing her as active in environmental advocacy, documentary filmmaking and animal-assisted therapy for seniors with dementia and Alzheimer’s. She has also challenged the 2026 FX/Hulu series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette over its portrayal of her. Public reporting does not establish her precise current residence or private daily routine.
What Daryl Hannah is doing now
Hannah’s recent public work spans creative projects and causes she has pursued for years. The available accounts identify several areas of focus, but they do not establish a complete schedule or confirm that every project mentioned is currently underway.

Directing and documentary filmmaking
In a 2025 interview with Rolling Stone UK, Hannah discussed Coastal, a documentary filmed during Neil Young’s 2023 solo tour. She said she has regularly filmed Young’s tours and recording sessions for his archives, and described directing as a long-standing part of her work. She said she preferred to put creative energy into projects rather than make the work about herself.
That interview also reported that she was shopping a feature screenplay and hoped to direct it herself. That was an intention at the time of the 2025 interview, not confirmation that the film has since entered production. The coverage does not confirm where Coastal is currently available to watch or buy.

Environmental advocacy
Environmental activism is a long-running part of Hannah’s public life, rather than a response to the renewed attention around Love Story. A 2024 EL PAÍS profile describes her activism and reports sustainability measures associated with her household, including solar power, compost toilets, alternative fuel, growing food and caring for rescued animals. Those are details reported in that profile, not an independent current audit of her home or lifestyle.
Animal-assisted therapy
In a March 2026 essay, Hannah described animal-assisted therapy for seniors living with dementia and Alzheimer’s as part of her professional work, according to the Associated Press. This account is based on Hannah’s own description of her work.
Why Daryl Hannah is back in the news
The FX/Hulu series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette dramatizes Kennedy and Bessette’s relationship and includes Hannah as Kennedy’s former partner. In March 2026, Hannah objected to the series’ depiction of her. In an essay in The New York Times, she wrote: “The character ‘Daryl Hannah’ portrayed in the series is not even a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John.”
Hannah also denied specific actions shown or suggested in the series, including saying, “I have never used cocaine in my life or hosted cocaine-fueled parties.” These are her statements and denials; a scripted dramatization is not historical evidence. The AP reported that FX had no immediate comment on her charges at the time of its report.

The AP also quoted producer Nina Jacobson, as reported by Hannah, saying Hannah’s character occupies an adversarial role in the story’s narrative. That describes a storytelling choice, not proof that the events depicted happened as presented.
What is known—and not known—about where she lives
“Where is Daryl Hannah now?” can refer to what she is doing professionally or to her physical location. Recent reporting gives a picture of some of her work and public statements, but it does not establish her precise current residence or private routine. Older profile details about her home and sustainability practices should not be treated as confirmation of where she lives today.

Her life beyond the renewed attention
Hannah became widely known through film roles, including Splash, released in 1984. EL PAÍS describes that film as the one that made her a star. Her more recent public profile, however, includes documentary and directing work, environmental advocacy and the animal-assisted therapy work she has described. The 2026 series has brought renewed attention to her past relationship with Kennedy, but it is only one part of the current picture.
