The most recent reporting describes a sequence of absence, release, returns, and a departure from WWE. Fightful reported on April 24, 2026 that Dallas had left the company again, after a match dated April 17, 2026. Before that, WWE released him in 2021, he returned in 2022 as Uncle Howdy alongside his brother Bray Wyatt, and he came back to television in 2024 leading the Wyatt Sicks. What he has done since the April 2026 report is not established in the available reporting.
Why “retirement” does not match the record
Retiring and being released are different events. A retirement is an announcement, usually by the performer, that a career is ending. The reporting on Dallas describes a release by WWE in 2021 after a period away from its programming, followed by a return and a later reported departure. No retirement announcement from Dallas appears in the material available, so readers searching for one will not find a sourced statement that he quit wrestling. The reporting also does not give Dallas’s own reasons for leaving in any of these phases, so any explanation of why he stepped away would be speculation.
Timeline of his WWE career phases
| Phase | Dates | What the reporting shows | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Development and NXT title | Joined the developmental system in 2008; NXT Championship in 2013 | WWE’s 2013 retrospective says Dallas won the NXT Championship and returned to the ring after rehabilitation for a lacerated kidney. | WWE, 2013 retrospective |
| Absence and release | Absence followed his earlier television appearances (the exact date of his last appearance before the absence is not stated in the reporting); released in 2021 | Dallas was away from WWE programming and was then released. | Fightful, 2026 |
| Uncle Howdy return | 2022 | Dallas returned alongside Bray Wyatt and began portraying Uncle Howdy. | Fightful, 2026; WWE character profile for Uncle Howdy |
| Wyatt Sicks and television return | June 24, 2024 highlight; Wyatt Sicks storyline in 2024 and later | Dallas returned to television after Bray Wyatt’s death and led the Wyatt Sicks, which Fightful describes as honoring his brother’s memory. | WWE video highlight, June 24, 2024; Fightful, 2026 |
| Reported departure | Last reported match April 17, 2026; departure reported April 24, 2026 | Fightful reported that Dallas had departed WWE. The Uncle Howdy return and how WWE frames it
Dallas’s 2022 return is the phase most readers associate with his name today. In WWE’s official character biography for Uncle Howdy, the company writes: “He was a refuge for Bo Dallas when he needed him most, but slowly his sanctuary became home and the line between Bo and Howdy was no more.” That is WWE’s own storyline copy, not a quotation from Dallas, and it describes a fictional identity rather than his private life.
Wrestling storylines are presented as kayfabe, the convention of treating on-screen events as real within the show. WWE’s pages describe the characters and the story WWE is telling. They do not establish facts about Dallas’s health, finances, or personal decisions. Readers should treat the Uncle Howdy material as a record of what WWE broadcast, not as an account of the performer’s own circumstances.

The 2024 segment and the Wyatt Sicks
WWE published a June 24, 2024 highlight titled “Bo Dallas opens up to Uncle Howdy about his brother Bray Wyatt.” It is the clearest official bridge between the brothers’ storyline and Dallas’s return to on-screen leadership of the Wyatt Sicks. Fightful’s account is that the Wyatt Sicks role honored Bray Wyatt’s memory after his death. That framing comes from Fightful’s reporting; WWE’s highlight shows the storyline, not Dallas’s private grief.
The April 2026 reported departure
The departure rests on a single secondary report. Fightful’s April 24, 2026 article is the basis for saying Dallas had left WWE, and the material available does not include a statement from Dallas explaining the decision. Readers should therefore label the departure as reported rather than announced.

What is not established
The available reporting does not establish what Dallas has done since the April 2026 report. It contains no direct statement from him, no confirmed independent bookings, and no confirmed new employer. Readers should not assume he has retired, joined another promotion, or announced a new project unless a named, dated source reports it.

How to check for updates
- Check WWE’s official profile for Bo Dallas or Uncle Howdy for any change in programming listings. A listing shows storyline activity, not employment status.
- Look for statements from Dallas on his own verified social media accounts, which would be a direct primary source.
- Note the date and outlet of any new report. Fightful’s April 24, 2026 article is the most recent departure report described here, and later reporting may supersede it.
Dallas’s career has moved through an NXT title, a release, a character reinvention, and a television return, and the most recent verifiable change is his reported exit from WWE in April 2026.
