How college radio fit into his time at UNLV
In a DePauw University event account, Kimmel recalled getting involved with the college radio station after a coworker urged him to try it: “He said, ‘You’re funny, you should be on the radio,’ and so I went to the college radio station.” The account also reproduces his joke about his student status: “Student is a generous way of putting what I was.” These are recollections from Kimmel as quoted in DePauw’s 2014 event report, not evidence that radio was a degree program or that he completed a degree. What was Kimmel’s UNLV honorary degree?
In 2013, UNLV awarded Kimmel an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. UNLV’s commencement program lists James Christian “Jimmy” Kimmel as a recipient, and UNLV Magazine describes the award as honorary.
