A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 is expected in the first half of 2027. HBO has not announced an exact premiere date, so no specific day or month can be confirmed yet. The window comes from HBO chief Casey Bloys, as reported in September 2026.
What the current reporting says
Two outlets published Bloys’s comments on September 16, 2026: Infobae, in Spanish, and GamesRadar+, in English. Both place season 2 in the first half of 2027. Neither reports a precise return date, and Infobae specifically notes that HBO had not given one.
How to read “first half of 2027”
A window is not a schedule. Use “expected” or “currently slated” rather than “confirmed,” and keep these three limits in mind:
- It covers roughly six months. It does not indicate a month, a weekday, or a specific episode date.
- It is not the Emmy eligibility deadline. GamesRadar+ explains that the eligibility window for the 2027 Emmy cycle closes May 31, 2027. That is a calendar rule for award consideration, not an HBO premiere announcement, so it should not be used to derive a date.
- Production coverage does not set it. Interviews about filming describe the work in progress; they do not establish when the season will air.
What is established about season 2
The table separates confirmed facts from the release window and shows the source and date for each.

What Ira Parker has said about season 2
In a June 12, 2026 interview with The Associated Press, showrunner Ira Parker described the new season’s scale and story. He said: “If anything, I’d say Season 2 might feel even smaller.”
He also described the story’s central conflict: “The whole story is about the drought. The whole story is somebody damming the water to keep it from someone else.”
Rank #2
AP reported that the production had to recreate a drought in Spain during historic downpours. Parker’s comment on that challenge was blunt: “Worst experience of my life,” he said, smiling but not entirely joking. These remarks describe the production and the story. The AP article does not connect the weather to any change in the release schedule, and this article does not either.
Why there is no exact date yet
The reporting reviewed does not give HBO’s reason for withholding a specific date, and this article does not speculate about one. What is clear is that the only public timing is the first-half-2027 window attributed to Bloys.

What would confirm a date
Treat a specific day or month as confirmed only when it appears in an official announcement from HBO or Warner Bros. Discovery. Be cautious with social posts, aggregator predictions, and articles that calculate a date from the Emmy calendar. Until an official date is published, the reliable answer is the window itself.

Season 2 adapts The Sworn Sword, so the novella is the most direct way to know the story before the show airs. Check your local bookstore or library for current editions, since availability varies by region.
