As of October 8, 2026, the clearest cross-service snapshot available here is JustWatch’s U.S. TV-show activity chart, checked at 09:11 UTC. It shows nine clearly inspectable leading titles—not ten—so this article does not invent a tenth rank. For a complete ten-title list, a separate box below gives Netflix’s official U.S. weekly chart for September 28–October 4. The two lists measure different things and should not be blended.
What is trending across U.S. streaming services?
JustWatch’s U.S. TV-show chart, checked October 8, 2026, at 09:11 UTC, showed these nine clearly inspectable leading titles. The rendered chart did not provide a tenth clearly inspectable row, so the titles below are presented without assigning ranks that cannot be verified here.
JustWatch says its charts are calculated from activity over selectable 24-hour, 7-day, or 30-day windows, including clicking a streaming offer, adding a title to a watchlist, or marking it as seen. It says charts update daily. This is a signal of viewer engagement, not a count of total viewing minutes. [JustWatch U.S. TV chart; methodology accessed October 8, 2026.]
- East of Eden — Netflix; a literary drama adaptation and a notable new release in the available chart snapshots.
- Lanterns — HBO Max; a superhero series for viewers in the mood for a new genre entry.
- Ted Lasso — Apple TV; a familiar returning favorite rather than a new title.
- War — HBO Max; a conflict-focused drama.
- Slow Horses — Apple TV; a returning spy series.
- American Horror Story — a long-running horror anthology.
- MobLand — a crime drama.
- Carrie — a horror title.
- Lioness — a spy and action drama.
JustWatch’s chart associates East of Eden with Netflix, Lanterns and War with HBO Max, and Ted Lasso and Slow Horses with Apple TV. The chart can help locate offers, but the supplied chart snapshot does not establish current U.S. availability for every listed show. Catalogs can vary by region and change over time; check the service’s current U.S. listing before you start watching.

Netflix’s separate weekly top ten
Netflix’s official U.S. list for September 28–October 4, 2026, is a platform-specific weekly chart. Its order is not a continuation of JustWatch’s multi-service activity chart.
| Netflix U.S. weekly position | Title |
|---|---|
| 1 | A Different World |
| 2 | East of Eden |
| 3 | Wonka’s The Golden Ticket |
| 4 | The Great British Baking Show |
| 5 | Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story |
| 6 | Murder in a Small Town |
| 7 | Raw |
| 8 | Ms. Rachel |
| 9 | Danny Go! |
| 10 | LEGO ONE PIECE |
Netflix says its Top 10 lists are available only in selected countries and territories. Its published weekly ranking therefore describes the U.S. Netflix list for that stated week, not all streaming services or a real-time measure. [Netflix Top 10]

Why a show can rank differently on another chart
On October 6, Tom’s Guide described East of Eden as No. 1 on Netflix’s U.S. chart that day and recommended it alongside Murder in a Small Town and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. That is a later daily snapshot and an editorial selection, not a replacement for Netflix’s September 28–October 4 weekly order or a cross-service ranking. Tom’s Guide also identifies East of Eden as based on John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel; reading the novel is optional, not a prerequisite for watching the series. [Tom’s Guide, October 6, 2026]
Nielsen offers a different comparison: its U.S. streaming chart ranks programs by total minutes viewed among people aged 2 and older. The available overall chart covers September 14–20, 2026, not the week of this October 8 snapshot. It reported:

- HDMI 2.1 cable required (sold separately)
- See movies and TV shows from all your services right from your home screen[2]; and find new things to watch with tailored recommendations for everyone in your home based on their interests and viewing habits
- Watch live TV and access over 800 free channels from Pluto TV, Tubi, and more[3]; if you find an interesting show or movie on your TV, mobile app, or Google search, you can easily add it to your watchlist, so it’s ready when you are[2]

- Neagley — 1,776 million minutes — Nielsen, 2026.
- Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story — 1,481 million minutes — Nielsen, 2026.
- Reacher — 1,420 million minutes — Nielsen, 2026.
Those figures show why activity charts and viewing-minute charts can produce different leaders: they cover different time periods and use different measures. They do not establish the October 8 top ten. Nielsen also publishes a combined linear chart for September 28–October 4 covering broadcast, cable, and live-streaming programs by total viewers; that is not a streaming-only ranking.
