What happened between Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Riley Stearns?
Winstead and Stearns married in 2010. Us Weekly reported that they announced their separation in May 2017. The outlet relayed a since-deleted social media post attributed to Winstead, in which she said they had decided to move on from the marriage and would remain “best friends and collaborators.” Us Weekly’s report is the source for that announcement; the post is not presented here as independently verified from a current account.
Winstead later described the divorce in a 2020 interview with Glamour UK, as quoted by Parade. She said she had been with the same person since she was 18 and called the experience a “big turning point.” That is her account of its personal significance, not an explanation of legal terms or of the marriage’s private circumstances. When were Winstead and McGregor linked publicly?
Winstead and McGregor worked together on the third season of Fargo. Us Weekly reported that they were seen together in London in October 2017, several months after Winstead and Stearns announced their separation. The report provides a public sighting, not a verified start date for a relationship. The chronology alone cannot establish whether McGregor was involved before the separation announcement or whether he played any role in the divorce.

How does McGregor’s divorce fit into the timeline?
McGregor’s marriage to Eve Mavrakis was a separate relationship and legal proceeding. Us Weekly reported that McGregor filed for divorce in January 2018 and listed May 2017 as the separation date; the outlet reported that the divorce was finalized in August 2020. Those dates concern McGregor and Mavrakis, not Winstead and Stearns, and do not establish the legal circumstances of Winstead’s divorce.
